Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Social Worker
Make a meaningful difference by helping patients and families navigate the emotional, social, and mental health challenges that can accompany illness and life changes. In this role, youll work independently as a professional counselor, providing compassionate assessment, counseling, treatment planning, and support to help patients and families achieve the best possible level of individual and family functioning.
What Youll Do
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and mental health assessments.
- Assess and diagnose behavioral and mental health needs within the scope of your licensure.
- Provide professional counseling and emotional support to patients and families.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on identified needs.
- Connect patients and families with appropriate community resources, programs, and services.
- Provide education, information, and referrals to support patients as they adjust to illness and other health-related challenges.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with patients, families, and other members of the care team.
- Help patients and families identify strengths, resources, and strategies that support optimal functioning and well-being.
What Youll Bring
Education
- Masters degree in Counseling from an accredited institution.
Experience
- One year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification
- Current Maryland licensure appropriate to the degree held.
- Must be licensed at a minimum of the graduate level.
- Applicable credentials may include LMSW, LCSW-C, LGPC, or LCPC , as appropriate.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of counseling principles, practices, techniques, and professional standards.
- Knowledge of community organizations, resources, and social service programs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect effectively and compassionately with individuals from diverse socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
- Ability to work autonomously while providing patient-centered, professional counseling services.
