Software Engineering - AI Adoption Internship (m/f/d) - Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg

The internship assignment:

We are looking for a software engineering intern to join the AI Adoption team at Gigafactory Berlin for a six-month internship.

The mission of the team is to drive AI adoption in factory operations: build agents, AI-first applications or deep AI integrations, put them in the hands of the people who use them, and deliver the solutions that move the business forward. You will work alongside the software engineering team on that delivery, contribute to real projects, and make an impact on how the factory operates.

Our engineers are hands-on. You take on operational problems with the team, work with stakeholders, drill into what is actually going on, and ship. You contribute to AI-first applications through to production, including evaluation and test cases as a normal part of building agents. You will collaborate with engineers and stakeholders, using your technical skills and your understanding of user and business needs.

- Work with engineers and business stakeholders to understand operational problems and turn them into working software

- Contribute to building, shipping, and operating agents and AI-first applications with deep AI integration

- Write evaluations and test cases for agents as part of shipping

- Build applications and agents with security and compliance in mind

- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders; take work through to a working outcome

- Improve and extend existing AI-first applications as business needs change

- Be flexible, responsive, and adaptive to changing requirements

- Currently studying Computer Science, AI, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A completed degree is not required

- Ability to work with the business, drill into problems, and drive them toward a solution

- You have built something you can show: a project, substantial coursework you were a key contributor to, a startup attempt, or other relevant work

- Hands-on software development experience using TypeScript, including React, or Python, such as experience building agents or applications with deep AI integration is a plus

- Understanding of how to build secure applications; interest in secure agents is a benefit

- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) is desired

- Experience with Redis and ClickHouse, Docker and/or Kubernetes is a plus

- Full professional proficiency in English; German is a plus
