We're looking for an experienced Deputy Medical Director to join our Brisbane Medical Operations team in a pivotal leadership role. The Opportunity
Reporting to the Medical Director, you will provide day-to-day clinical leadership and operational support across Allianz Partners' medical assistance platform.
You will play a key role in leading Medical Officers, supporting clinical governance, managing complex medical assistance cases and helping deliver a modern, scalable and future-ready medical operating model.

What You'll Be Doing
Clinical Leadership
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of Medical Officers.
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight across the broader nursing function.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex and high-risk medical cases.
- Support workforce capability through mentoring, coaching and professional development.
- Drive consistent clinical decision-making, quality outcomes and operational excellence.
- Deputise for the Medical Director when required.
Clinical Governance & Medical Expertise
- Provide expert clinical oversight across medical assistance, underwriting and international health services.
- Support complex traveller assistance cases, evacuations and repatriations.
- Ensure clinical governance frameworks, quality standards and regulatory compliance are maintained.
- Contribute to medical reviews, dispute resolution processes and clinical reporting.
- Participate in the medical escalation roster supporting AU/NZ operations.
Operational Excellence & Innovation
- Partner with Operations, Claims, Network and Commercial teams to improve service delivery.
- Utilise data-led decision making to optimise customer outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement and clinical transformation initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic projects that enhance capability, scalability and customer experience.
- Help shape future models of care within a rapidly evolving healthcare and assistance environment.

About You
You are a respected medical leader who combines strong clinical expertise with a collaborative and forward-thinking leadership style.
Essential Requirements
- AHPRA registered Medical Specialist.
- Fellowship in: FACEM (Emergency Medicine), or
- FCICM (Intensive Care Medicine), or
- FANZCA (Anaesthetics).
- Minimum 3 years post-Fellowship experience in an acute clinical environment.
- Experience leading, supervising or mentoring medical professionals.
- Strong clinical knowledge in emergency medicine, intensive care, travel medicine, infectious diseases and/or retrieval medicine.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a dynamic and fast-paced operational environment.
Highly Regarded
- Experience within medical assistance, insurance or healthcare operations.
- Experience leading change, service improvements or transformation initiatives.
- Exposure to digital healthcare, utilisation management or medical risk assessment.
- Additional language capabilities.

- Brisbane-based position.
- Monday to Thursday working pattern (0.8 FTE).
- Minimum 80% on-site attendance across working days.
- Commitment to maintaining a minimum 20% FTE-equivalent direct clinical practice outside of Allianz Partners.
