About this role
The Assistant Executive Housekeeper onboard the cruise ship Manara is a key position dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. Reporting directly to the Executive Housekeeper and, in a broader sense, supporting the overall housekeeping operations, the Assistant Executive Housekeeper plays a crucial role in managing housekeeping staff, ensuring the cleanliness of guest cabins and public areas, and implementing housekeeping protocols. This position contributes to creating a welcoming and pristine environment for our guests, enhancing their overall onboard experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To assist the Executive Housekeeper in overseeing the daily Housekeepingoperation, cleaning procedures and maintenance of all Guest areas includingStaterooms, laundries, public areas and crew areas.
To train, coach, counsel and support the Housekeeping Department Staff.
To schedule, conduct and log all Departmental Training for Housekeeping Supervisors, Senior Stateroom Stewards, Stateroom Stewards, Housekeeping Utilities and Upholsterer.
To guide the Housekeeping Supervisors and Housekeeping Secretary to ensure that the entire Housekeeping Department is updated with relevant shipboard information at all times.
To ensure that the Housekeeping Supervisors follow up on inspections as per policy.
To do inspections as per policy and to follow up accordingly to ensure proper cleaning procedures and maintenance of all Guest areas.
To assist the Executive Housekeeper in preparing Performance Appraisals for the Housekeeping department staff.
To conduct inventories of all Housekeeping lockers on a regular basis and to ensure that they are all kept neat and tidy and in accordance to safety rules and regulations.
To oversee all Guest Laundry procedures and to ensure that Guest Laundry is logged, taken down to the Laundry and delivered back to the Guest in a timely manner.
To deal with any Maintenance issues which may arise in Guest areas and to reportand follow up on the work orders in a timely manner.
To order, receive and monitor all uniforms and shoes on board and to monitorthe condition of all uniforms in circulation.
To order, check and receive all material deliveries onboard.
Records observations and asses performance to agree upon standards of cleanliness and upkeep.
Ensures that ordering and storage of supplies is maintained to safeguard against waste.
Ensures that periodic inventories of supplies and monthly /quarterly linen inventories are conducted.
Offers all possible assistance to guests. Must take corrective action on suggestion/complaints and strives for early guest recovery.
Reports any loss or damage of furniture, fixtures or equipment. Report maintenance deficiencies that require immediate attention and follow-up on their status. Escalates issues as necessary.
Interacts with Housekeeping team and appropriate crew to ensure the efficient resolution of problems and maximize guest satisfaction.
Conducts daily briefing with section staff and instructs them on follow up andspecial projects.
Assist the Executive Housekeeper in monitoring the fast and smooth luggage handling process during collection and delivery of luggage from/to guest staterooms.
Ensures master keys issuance are recorded and turned in during end of the shift.
To adhere to, and to ensure that the Housekeeping Department Staff adheres to all Company Policies and Procedures, Manuals and Directives.

Requirements:
Hospitality Experience: Proven track record in housekeeping or related roles within the maritime or hospitality industry, demonstrating expertise in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. Language Proficiency: Proficient in English; additional languages are advantageous, contributing to effective communication with diverse passengers and crew members.
Physical Fitness: Excellent physical health and stamina, capable of undertaking demanding duties inherent to housekeeping responsibilities on board.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to upholding cleanliness and presentation standards in guest cabins and public areas.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities, showcasing the ability to guide and manage housekeeping staff to achieve excellence in their responsibilities.
Customer Service Orientation: A customer-centric approach with a focus on providing exceptional service to guests, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction during their stay.
