(Senior) Quality Assurance Engineer (f/m/d)

As a (Senior) Quality Engineer (f/m/d) in our Backoffice Team, you will help shape a new internal platform used across ZEAL to support business-critical operational workflows.

You will join a small cross-functional team and have a high level of ownership from the start. The Backoffice integrates with a wide range of backend services and supports workflows that can have financial, operational and compliance impact. Your work will directly influence how confidently and quickly we can deliver new functionality.

This is an engineering-focused quality role. You will work directly in the application codebase alongside the engineers and build the tooling, infrastructure and automated feedback loops that help the team ship safely at high speed.

Your tasks:

- Shape and continuously improve the quality engineering strategy for the Backoffice application

- Design and build automated test infrastructure across unit, integration, API and end-to-end levels with a strong focus on Playwright and TypeScript

- Develop reusable test fixtures, test-data seeding, environment tooling, harnesses and abstractions that make realistic and repeatable testing easy.

- Build fast automated feedback loops and validation mechanisms that make AI-assisted development safer and more effective.

- Design meaningful regression coverage for critical workflows, complex permissions and scenarios with financial, operational or compliance impact

- Strengthen CI quality gates and improve test execution so that a green pipeline provides a strong and fast signal that changes are safe to ship.

- Investigate defects, flaky tests and systemic quality issues and turn findings into durable engineering improvements.

- Triage bug reports together with internal users, reproduce issues and turn findings into clear actions for the team.

- Champion a strong quality mindset across the team and challenge workflows and designs from an end-user perspective to identify usability issues and edge cases early.

- Foster knowledge sharing and collaboration with the wider QA community at ZEAL to exchange practices, tools and learnings.

- Work closely with engineers, Product, UX and backend teams to identify risks early, improve testability and build quality into the development process

What you offer us:

- Strong software engineering skills and experience in quality engineering, test automation, SDET or a comparable engineering-focused role.

- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript or JavaScript and the ability to contribute production-quality code directly to a modern web application.

- Experience designing and building test frameworks, tooling, harnesses, fixtures and automation infrastructure rather than only writing individual test cases

- Strong experience with Playwright, Cypress or a similar modern end-to-end testing framework.

- Good understanding of APIs, distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines and applications that integrate with multiple backend services
