About the role

Looking for a role where no two days are the same? As our Waste Supervisor, you'll play a key role in keeping the University of Hertfordshire sites running smoothly, leading a dedicated team that delivers essential waste management and recycling services across campus. Working 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday , you'll champion sustainability by helping maximise recycling rates, ensuring waste is managed safely and efficiently, and supporting both the CBRE and University management teams.

You'll also oversee a range of added-value site services, building strong relationships with stakeholders and driving best practice every day. If you're a hands-on leader who enjoys making a visible impact, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and motivate the on-site recycling team, ensuring a safe, efficient, and high-quality service.
- Manage day-to-day waste and recycling operations, keeping the site running smoothly and productively.
- Build strong relationships with CBRE, the University of Hertfordshire, and key stakeholders across campus.
- Drive sustainability by maximising recycling rates and reducing general waste.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance service efficiency and performance.
- Proactively resolve operational challenges and support business continuity planning.
- Keep stakeholders informed with regular updates, service information, and improvement opportunities.
- Champion health, safety, and compliance, ensuring best practice is followed at all times.

What we need from you

- A full UK driving licence
- Proven experience within waste management, recycling, or environmental services.
- Previous experience leading, motivating, and developing a team.
- Experience working in a large-scale operational, manufacturing, facilities, or site-based environment.
- A hands-on approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
