About the Role:

The Assistant Area Manager – Paper Machine provides hands-on operational and leadership support for the Paper Machine area, helping ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production. This role connects people, process, maintenance, planning, and production, working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and other support teams. The position is expected to be highly visible on the production floor and capable of providing leadership coverage and support across the Paper Machine area as needed.

Schedule: Monday–Friday day shift. Weekend duty rotation every 5 weeks.

What You’re Going to Do:

Key Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day leadership and operational support for the Paper Machine area.
- Maintain a strong presence on the production floor and build effective relationships with operators, maintenance, engineering, and other support teams.
- Lead and support employees while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Support troubleshooting of Paper Machine issues and help identify opportunities to improve reliability, uptime, and production performance.
- Monitor and analyze machine availability, uptime, downtime, and other operational performance metrics.
- Maintain and utilize spreadsheets and other tools to track machine performance and identify trends or opportunities for improvement.
- Support outage planning and execution, including understanding the sequence and timing of work required to safely complete planned maintenance activities.
- Understand and coordinate Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements associated with Paper Machine work and maintenance activities.
- Work closely with maintenance and operations teams to ensure work is properly planned, scheduled, and executed.
- Support material and spare-parts planning through SAP and assist with ensuring required materials are available when needed.
- Utilize SAP for material management, work-related activities, and operational planning.
- Help coordinate work priorities and resources based on production requirements, maintenance needs, and equipment availability.
- Step in to provide leadership coverage when needed and help address operational gaps within the Paper Machine area.
- Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and coordination of daily activities.
- Identify process and equipment issues and coordinate with technical resources when additional expertise is required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, reliability, productivity, and cost.
- Ensure established operating procedures, safety standards, and company policies are followed.
- Communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, managers, maintenance, engineering, and other stakeholders.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

What We Expect from You:

Minimum Qualifications:

- 3+ years of experience working in a Paper Machine environment, with experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Strong understanding of the overall paper manufacturing process .
- Working knowledge of Paper Machine operations, including areas such as the dry end and winding/winder operations .
- Ability to work effectively on the production floor and interact directly with employees at all levels.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, including the ability to plan and coordinate maintenance activities and outages.
- Strong computer skills and experience working with SAP .
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
