The Environmental Services Associate is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of patient care areas, offices, and hospital facilities. This role supports infection prevention efforts and promotes a safe, welcoming environment throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Clean and sanitize patient rooms, offices, and common areas.
- Clean and disinfect isolation and precaution rooms in accordance with infection control standards.
- Collect and dispose of trash, soiled linens, and bulk waste.
- Maintain adequate supplies of paper products and soap in assigned areas.
- Keep equipment, carts, and Environmental Services closets clean, organized, and safe.
- Respond promptly to work assignments and department communications using mobile devices.
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, and equipment damage to leadership.
- Follow all departmental policies, safety procedures, and infection control practices.
- Attend required training and department meetings.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and team members.

Qualifications

- High school diploma preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ability to use smartphones or similar mobile devices for work assignments.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to work in areas with potential exposure to infectious diseases while following required safety precautions.
- Safety glasses must be worn at all times.

This position has a starting rate of $17.80 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.90 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.93 per hour.

This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
