The QA & CAD Support Specialist will provide dual discipline support across quality assurance workflows and computer aided design activities within the program’s hardware and deliverable development lifecycle. This role ensures that products, drawings, and documentation meet established quality standards while supporting engineers with accurate, compliant CAD artifacts. This role is critical to ensuring design accuracy and deliverable quality across the program’s lifecycle. The candidate will help reduce rework, improve reliability of final products, and accelerate engineering throughput through accurate CAD support.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance (QA) Duties

•            Perform inspections, verifications, and quality checks on hardware, documentation, and deliverables.
•            Review product requirements and ensure compliance with program standards and specifications.
•            Execute test procedures and document results to support validation and verification (V&V).
•            Identify defects, discrepancies, and non-conformances; track issues through resolution.
•            Support continuous improvement by recommending corrective actions and process enhancements.
•            Collaborate with engineering, program management, and QA leadership to ensure quality across development cycles.
Computer Aided Design (CAD) Duties
•            Develop and update 2D/3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
•            Prepare shop drawings, design documentation, and layouts needed for fabrication and prototyping.
•            Ensure CAD outputs align with industry standards, program specifications, and configuration management requirements.
•            Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with technical requirements.
•            Support engineers by transforming conceptual designs into finalized technical CAD artifacts.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills
•            Experience utilizing PTC Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM to develop, audit, and release complex 3D parametric models and 2D detailed assembly drawings in strict compliance with ASME Y14.100 and military data standards.
•            Comprehensive knowledge of MIL-STD-31000 for Technical Data Package (TDP) development , with proven experience generating, structuring, and maintaining TDP artifacts—including 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications

using PTC Creo and Windchill

•            Understanding of engineering principles, drafting standards, material specifications, and fabrication methods.

•            Experience executing QA procedures, inspections, audits, or test plans.
•            Ability to read, interpret, and produce technical drawings, schematics, and documentation.

Experience
•            3–5 years of combined experience in CAD design/drafting and quality assurance (or 2+ years in each discipline individually).
•            Experience supporting hardware, prototyping, or engineering development environments preferred.
•            Familiarity with configuration management and quality documentation practices.
•            Active TS/SCI clearance

Soft Skills
•            Strong attention to detail and accuracy in both QA documentation and CAD outputs.
•            Analytical and problem solving mindset, able to identify issues and recommend solutions.
•            Effective communication skills for cross team collaboration.
•            Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a dynamic, fast paced program environment.

Preferred Qualifications

•            Experience supporting DoD or government engineering programs.
•            Knowledge of testing methodologies, inspection plans, and quality management systems.
•            Ability to contribute to design reviews and provide CAD/QA insights

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:
$63,300 - 129,700 USD
