Job Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Manage Product Managers and UX Designers, onshore and offshore, including line management, performance management, professional development, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Own a discipline within the department and manage a global team.
- Lead creation of the overall product vision and roadmap in partnership with leadership.
- Establish a cohesive product strategy and roadmap across proposal, pricing, and contracting technologies, while directly owning one or more complex products.
- Translate and prioritize business needs into technical and analytical requirements, product requirements, user stories, and measurable outcomes.
- Oversee prioritization of product features, modifications, attributes, and backlogs, and communicate priorities to development teams.
- Partner with data scientists and engineers on requirements, statements of work, budget estimates, scope, timelines, and supplier line-ups.
- Identify unresolved business needs with internal and external clients and use them to guide product strategy.
- Drive product strategy, discovery, business-case development, delivery, adoption, and value realization.
- Lead process standardization and technology adoption across businesses, functions, and geographies.
- Manage vendors, implementation partners, budgets, contracts, and product evaluations.
- Build strong relationships across Sales, Proposal Management, Pricing, Legal, Finance, Operations, Data, Technology, and external partners.
- Coach and develop Product Managers, set objectives, review roadmaps, delegate effectively, and establish consistent product-management standards.
- Clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical clients and stakeholders and facilitate collaboration across teams.
Experience Requirements
- 6+ years of product management experience in deal-management technology within an enterprise sales setting, including proposal, pricing, and contracting technologies.
- Preferred industry experience: pharmaceutical services, CRO, or equivalent.
- Experience managing enterprise products through strategy, discovery, business-case development, delivery, adoption, and value realization.
- People-management experience including coaching Product Managers, setting objectives, reviewing roadmaps, performance management, and talent development. The base JD specifies 1-2 years; the additional role notes call for 2+ years.
- Experience owning a portfolio of interconnected products while directly managing one or more complex products.
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end deal lifecycle: opportunity qualification, proposal/RFP development, solutioning, pricing, approvals, contracting, negotiation, signature, and handoff.
- Experience integrating proposal, pricing, and contracting products with CRM, finance, legal, data, and delivery systems.
- Demonstrated success improving deal velocity, proposal quality, pricing discipline, contract cycle time, win rate, margin, or user productivity.
- Experience leading process standardization and technology adoption across multiple businesses, functions, or geographies.
- Experience managing vendors, implementation partners, budgets, contracts, and product evaluations.
- Experience in a complex or regulated professional-services environment is preferred.
Relevant Enterprise Platforms
- Proposal and RFP management tools such as Qvidian or QorusDocs.
- Pricing, CPQ, or deal-desk solutions; experience with a custom/homegrown pricing solution is preferred.
- Contract lifecycle management and electronic-signature platforms; Adobe Sign preferred.
- Salesforce or another enterprise CRM.
- Document generation, content repositories, workflow, analytics, and AI capabilities.
- Roadmap, issue, and backlog management systems such as Azure DevOps.
- Design tools such as Figma.
Skills & Capabilities
- Ability to balance portfolio leadership, people management, and direct ownership of critical products.
- Strong product discovery, prioritization, backlog management, and value-measurement capabilities.
- Strong people leadership including coaching, delegation, performance management, and development of product-management capabilities.
- Strong understanding of deal-management processes, approval controls, commercial risk, pricing governance, and contract compliance.
- Technical fluency in enterprise architecture, integrations, APIs, data models, document automation, workflow automation, analytics, and generative AI.
- Understanding of business intelligence strategy and/or data science and engineering workflows, database concepts and architecture, and common analytic languages such as Python, R, Scala, or Java.
- Ability to evaluate configuration, custom development, automation, and vendor-product options.
- Strong business-case development, financial analysis, benefits measurement, and total-cost-of-ownership skills.
- Excellent executive communication, facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong change-management skills covering communications, training, deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement.
- Sound judgment regarding confidential deal information, access controls, privacy, responsible AI, and regulatory requirements.
