About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an External Manufacturing Sourcing Manager ! This position can be located in Midland (MI, USA), Houston (TX, USA), Terneuzen (NLD) or Tarragona (ESP).

In this role, you will create value for Dow by defining sourcing opportunities, developing and aligning sourcing strategies, leveraging supplier relationships, analyzing market conditions, and negotiating with suppliers and internal partners to optimize sustained value for Dow. This will require in-depth conceptual and working knowledge of your discipline or functional area. You may need to lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements as well as serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues. You should also be able to explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus with others.

It will be your responsibility to analyze and resolve complex problems, examine information from multiple sources, and use judgement to evaluate established and new solutions. Your performance impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within your own team and other related teams and requires that you work within established guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

- Partner with the stakeholders to clarify the scope of purchase and relevant service requirements.
- Utilize business acumen, market knowledge, and leverage best practices to drive value from the market, and proactively identify and propose competitive solutions to activate cost saving opportunities.
- Assess and manage risk profile of the market, supplier, and purchase activities.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to enable competitive and reliable purchase that meets the safety, qualification and compliance requirements.
- Proactively manage sourcing projects, lead supplier qualification, RFI, RFQ/RFP, competitive bidding, bid evaluation and lead negotiation with suppliers.
- Analyze and resolve complex problems, challenge inefficiencies of the workgroup, examine information from multiple sources, and use judgement to evaluate established and new solutions.
- Responsible for the negotiation, execution and implementation of commercial agreements and related work processes in accordance with the strategies within the commercial area and/or geography.
- Effectively conduct Supplier Performance Evaluation, implement Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and collaboratively drive continuous performance improvement of supplier via KPIs (Safety, Productivity and Quality).
- Uses influential leadership to elevate the performance of the workgroup.

Qualifications

- A minimum of a bachelor's degree OR relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E5 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking OR 10 years of relevant working experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience.
- For U.S. Applicants: A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

- Proactive Problem Solving: Solve complex problems, anticipates potential issues and take preventive actions before they occur, rather than reacting after problems arise.
- Stakeholder Management/Communication: Identify, engage, and maintain positive relationships with individuals or groups who have an interest in or influence over a project, process, or outcome. Clear interaction with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Project Management: Ability to lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives.
