Manufacturing Technician II

Summary

Under the direction of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Manufacturing Technician I assemble standard electronic cable, connectors and connector components together to create cable assemblies according to customer specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Compliance with Work Instructions, Policies and Procedures

- Read, understand, and apply knowledge to customer jobs in strict adherence to Production Work Instructions and company policies.

- Interpretation of Technical Documentation

- Review and interpret work orders, diagrams, prints, and other technical specifications to determine materials and processes required to produce cable assemblies.

- Cable Assembly Production

- Identify and select the appropriate cable types, ensuring precise measurement and cutting to required lengths.

- Operate a laser wire marker to accurately mark and cut cables to specified dimensions.

- Follow detailed work instructions to assemble cables using soldering and crimping techniques, integrating connectors such as coaxial, USB, USB 3.0, and Ethernet.

- Securely attach connectors and components according to technical specifications to produce high-quality cable assemblies.

- Labeling and Finishing

- Prepare and attach labels, ties, and shrink tubing to cable assemblies.

- Apply shrink tubing and labels using appropriate tools and techniques.

- Conduct continuity and short testing when troubleshooting cable assemblies.

- Ensure cable assemblies are finished as required.

- Prepare kitting materials on work orders.

- Setup and operate machinery.

- Documentation and Record-Keeping

- Accurately completes all required documentation, including production reports, quality assurance logs, and job paperwork.

- Completes cable assemblies in full compliance with print specifications and company quality standards.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, and Skills Requirements

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

- One-year certificate from college or technical school is preferred.

- Three to six months related experience and/or training.

- Strong, professional English verbal and written communication skills.

- Ability to work in a team environment.

- Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities.

- Demonstrated accuracy, consistency, and thoroughness.

While performing the duties of this job, the personnel member is frequently required to sit; talk or hear. Above average manual dexterity to work with short wires and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. Personnel may be required to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Equipment Used

This position requires daily use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, printers, copiers, and calculators. This position requires daily of use small hand-held tools and electronic equipment including but not limited to soldering equipment and label printer. Ability to use magnifying light as necessary or needed. Ensure compliance with Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) requirements when performing applicable tasks.

Personal Protective Equipment: Safety glasses must be worn at all times, and safety shoes must be worn if handling cable spools. When using sharp blades, cut resistant gloves must be worn at all times. Heat resistant gloves are available when necessary for projects.

Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled light assembly environment with infrequent exposure to recognized health hazards. Noise level is moderate.

Location: This position is located at the company headquarters in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Travel: This position is not expected to travel for company business.
