About this role
QuickBooks Canada is looking for a Senior Staff Designer to reinvent how prospects experience quickbooks.ca — from first visit through trial, plan selection and purchase. This is a senior, hands-on design role for someone who treats the website as a product with a P&L, not a brochure.
You will own the design vision for the direct-channel web experience: the ideas, the UI, the prototypes, and the evidence that they work. Web is the primary mandate; you will also flex into campaign, paid media and lifecycle creative when priorities demand it. You will partner day-to-day with our Web Enablement & Ops team, who own the build, release and experimentation infrastructure, to take concepts from Figma into production and into A/B tests. You'll draw on Intuit's brand system and design language, but your mandate is to push beyond templated marketing pages toward experiences that are genuinely new — interactive, personalized, AI-assisted — and measurably better at moving visitors through the funnel.
This role operates with independence and clear creative authority. The right candidate is not just a strong maker: they are a strategic partner who can turn business goals, funnel data, customer insight and brand inputs into design that is distinctive, coherent and built to convert. They know how to pitch ideas, take feedback with maturity, build trust with senior stakeholders, and keep work moving through ambiguity.
At Intuit, we're intentionally building AI into how we design, prototype and ship. We look for designers who are excited to bring AI into their workflow — to explore more directions faster, prototype in code, and save their energy for the judgment calls only a human can make.
Intuit has embraced a hybrid working model and this role will be based out of our Toronto office 3 days per week.
Responsibilities
Own the web experience design vision
- Define and evolve the end-to-end visual and interaction design for quickbooks.ca acquisition journeys: homepage, product and feature pages, pricing and plan selection, trial and buy flows, campaign landing pages and lead-capture experiences.
- Set the bar for UI craft on the site — typography, layout, motion, interaction patterns — and raise it consistently across every page you touch and every page others build.
- Translate Intuit brand and design-system foundations into a web experience that is unmistakably QuickBooks yet tailored to Canadian small businesses and accountants.
Drive innovation, not just optimization
- Generate and prototype new experience concepts that go beyond incremental page tweaks: interactive product tours, guided plan recommenders, AI-assisted 'which QuickBooks is right for me' flows, dynamic content by segment or intent, and other patterns that don't yet exist on our site.
- Maintain a forward-looking view of best-in-class SaaS and fintech web experiences and bring back what's worth stealing, adapted to our brand and funnel.
- Build reusable patterns, components and templates so innovation scales across the site rather than living on one page.
Design for the funnel and prove it
- Ground every concept in a hypothesis about visitor behaviour and a target metric (engagement, click-through, trial starts, purchase, SKU mix).
- Partner with Web Enablement & Ops and Analytics to size opportunities, design experiments, define success criteria, and read results. Iterate on what wins; kill what doesn't
- Use behavioural data (analytics, session replay, heatmaps, research) to identify friction and prioritize where design effort will move the numbers most.
Ship with the Web Enablement & Ops team
- Deliver production-ready design: annotated Figma files, prototypes, component specs and interaction details that developers can build from without guesswork.
- Work inside the team's sprint and release cadence; participate in QA and design reviews of the live build.
- Ensure work meets accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA / AODA), performance, SEO and localization requirements (English and French) from concept, not as a retrofit.
Flex into campaign and media creative
- As a secondary responsibility, lead or contribute design for high-priority campaign, paid media and lifecycle creative when the business needs it — bringing the same craft, brand fluency and performance mindset you apply to the web.
- Ensure campaign creative and landing experiences are designed as one journey, not handed off between teams.
Lead through influence
- Present and defend creative direction to marketing, product, brand and international leadership with clear rationale tied to business outcomes.
- Act as the design voice in Direct Channel Marketing planning, ensuring experience quality is considered alongside media, search and lifecycle decisions.
- Mentor and critique across the broader Canada marketing team and agency partners; raise the standard of design work you don't personally produce.
Qualifications
What you bring:
- Deep experience designing marketing websites and conversion-critical web experiences for SaaS, fintech or consumer subscription businesses, with a portfolio that shows both exceptional UI craft and measurable business results (lift in conversion, engagement or revenue you can speak to).
- Mastery of visual and interaction design fundamentals — typography, layout, hierarchy, colour, motion — applied to responsive web at a large-brand quality bar.
- Advanced Figma skills including component libraries, variables and prototyping; comfort working within and extending an enterprise design system.
- Demonstrated experience in experimentation-led design: framing hypotheses, designing test variants, working with analytics and CRO partners, and iterating from results.
- Ability to prototype interactively — in Figma, and increasingly in code with AI-assisted tools — to test ideas before committing engineering effort.
- Working knowledge of how the web is built (HTML/CSS, component-based front ends, CMS constraints, performance and Core Web Vitals) so your designs are buildable and you can collaborate credibly with developers.
- Demonstrated integration of AI tools into your design workflow to improve speed, exploration or quality.
- Strong storytelling and presentation skills; proven ability to build trust with senior stakeholders through judgment, candour and organization.
- Breadth across marketing design — able to move from web UI to campaign, paid media or lifecycle creative without a drop in quality, and to keep those touchpoints coherent as one journey.
- Ability to operate independently across multiple workstreams while maintaining quality and momentum.
Nice to have:
- Bilingual English/French, and experience designing for Canadian audiences in both languages.
- Experience with personalization, dynamic content or AI-driven experiences on marketing sites.
- Familiarity with experimentation platforms and behavioural analytics tools.
- Experience in a matrixed global organization where a market team works within a shared brand and platform.
