Logistics Operator, Solar Manufacturing Tool Install

As a Logistics Operator supporting Solar Manufacturing Tool Install, you will play a critical, dual-function role responsible for both the safe physical movement of heavy industrial equipment and the systematic tracking, inventory and management of company assets. This role spans inbound and outbound load operations, rigging and material handling, trailer operations, equipment readiness, inventory control, and direct support of Tool Install activities at manufacturing plants and construction sites.

Working in a highly team-oriented environment, you will inspect and prepare loads, apply correct rigging and material-handling methods, operate supporting equipment as qualified, maintain and track equipment inventory, and ensure every move and every asset meet Tesla safety and documentation standards. Clear communication, physical fitness, attention to detail, and a strong safety mindset are essential.

This role may require overtime, nights, weekends, and outdoor work, and includes approximately 50% travel to multiple sites.

- Provide rigging expertise and guidance for inbound and outbound loads, including inspecting and preparing loads, determining proper lift methods, and identifying weights and centers of gravity. Set up, use, and break down cables, pulleys, winches, chain falls, gantries, jacks, rollers, skates, beams, clamps, chains, binders, straps, hoists, and related gear through the full cycle of each task
- Move loads in open and confined factory or construction areas using appropriate rigging methods and equipment. Load and unload various trailer types (including flatbed, step-deck, and lowboy/RGN); follow safety protocols when un-strapping, clearing, transferring, and staging loads
- Set, align, level, and anchor heavy equipment and machinery to technical specifications so it is ready for installation or operation. Uncrate, crate, and anchor equipment using small power tools as required. Operate industrial equipment as qualified and certified, including forklifts, boom lifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and related machinery-moving equipment
- Receive, inspect, and document all incoming Tool Install materials, equipment, and consumables; verify quantities and condition against purchase orders and packing lists
- Maintain accurate, real-time inventory records using Tesla's designated inventory management systems (e.g., spreadsheets, WMS, or inventory management tools); ensure all transactions like receipts, issues/material requisitions request (MREQ), transfers, and returns — are logged promptly
- Inspect, maintain, and inventory gear; keep inventory current; take damaged equipment out of service; and advise on equipment needed for current and future jobs. Stage, organize, and label materials in designated storage areas to support efficient tool install workflows; maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Coordinate with the Tool Install Logistics team to fulfill material requests, track shortages, and escalate discrepancies or damaged goods. Conduct pre- and post-task inspections and be primarily responsible for setting up equipment correctly through the full cycle of each task. Support outbound transfers, returns, and disposals of surplus or end-of-life materials; ensure proper documentation for all outbound movements

- Entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and/or inventory experience may be considered. Hands-on forklift experience required; must be able to operate a forklift from day one. Tesla forklift certification to be obtained if not already held. Working knowledge of rigging equipment and methods, including cables, pulleys, winches, chain falls, gantries, jacks, rollers, and skates
- Valid driver's license. Preferred Class A CDL and DOT medical card, or ability to obtain if the role requires transport of loads
- NCCCO Rigger Level I (or equivalent qualified-rigger credential). Expert knowledge of rigging equipment and methodologies. NCCCO Signalperson and/or Mobile Crane Operator certification is a plus
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in industrial moving, construction rigging, machinery moving, millwright work, warehouse/inventory management, or a related field. Experience with overhead cranes, hoists, jacks, and rollers (100-ton to 160-ton cranes and Versa-lift a plus)
- Ability to read basic lift plans, follow work instructions, and use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring tools as required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teams; ability to maintain accurate digital inventory records and generate basic reports
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Strong problem-solving skills with a driven, self-motivated, and safety-conscious mindset. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50+ lbs; frequently bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, climb, and work outdoors in harsh weather. Flexibility to work overtime, nights, weekends, and at multiple sites as business needs require
