About this role
Description
Would you like to build technology products that help shape Amazon’s transition toward a more circular economy? Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations are rapidly changing how producers and retailers manage products and packaging after sale, including recycling obligations, fees, reporting, seller compliance, and reverse logistics. Amazon is building the technology and operating mechanisms required to manage these obligations at global scale while creating the foundation for broader circularity services.
As a Principal Product Manager – Technical, you will define and lead the product strategy for some of Amazon’s most complex sustainability and regulatory challenges. You will work across engineering, science, compliance, finance, operations, and sustainability teams to automate global EPR programs, improve product and packaging data, enable compliant selling partners, and develop scalable capabilities for recycling, recovery, and circularity.
This role requires a product leader who can operate in significant ambiguity, translate evolving regulatory and business requirements into durable technical solutions, and influence across a broad set of senior stakeholders. You will help determine where Amazon should build common global platforms versus localized solutions, establish mechanisms that improve accuracy and reduce manual effort, and shape new services that can support both compliance and circular-economy objectives.
This is a high-visibility opportunity to build at the intersection of technology, regulation, sustainability, and Amazon-scale commerce, with the ability to influence how Amazon manages producer responsibility today and how it develops broader circularity capabilities for the future.
Key job responsibilities
-Define and deliver AI-enabled products that scale global EPR compliance, including monitoring emerging regulations and policy changes, translating requirements into product and control strategies, and enabling rapid expansion across new geographies and regulatory use cases.
-Improve the Selling Partner compliance experience by building products that make requirements easier to understand and act on, reduce the effort and cost required to achieve compliance, and enable sellers to continue offering products across Amazon stores.
Own the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for EPR and circular economy, leading 3-Year Vision, annual operating planning, and quarterly prioritization while aligning investments across business, technology, compliance, sustainability, and operations teams.
-Drive automation and simplification across Amazon’s EPR operating model, replacing manual processes with scalable technology, improving data and classification accuracy, and strengthening controls across reporting, fees, registrations, and compliance monitoring.
-Develop new circular-economy capabilities and services across recycling, recovery, reverse logistics, and producer accountability, identifying opportunities where Amazon can meet regulatory requirements while improving customer and Selling Partner experiences.
-Influence and align senior cross-functional leaders across engineering, science, finance, legal, public policy, operations, and sustainability to resolve ambiguous problems, make investment tradeoffs, and deliver durable global solutions.
