Electrical Engineering Intern - Summer 2027

Farnsworth Group is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern- Summer 2027 . In this role, you will gain valuable knowledge into the work of a local Engineering Consulting Design firm while performing tasks to assist our Engineers and Technicians.

What You’ll Do:

- Develop and maintain electrical engineering drawings and construction documents using CAD software.

- Assist with Building Information Modeling (BIM) development and coordination across multidisciplinary project teams.

- Support project setup activities, including document organization, standards implementation, and quality control processes.

- Perform engineering code research and analysis related to the NEC, IBC, IECC, and other applicable industry standards.

- Assist in the preparation of client deliverables, including plans, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.

- Participate in project coordination meetings with engineers, architects, clients, and other design professionals.

- Conduct field investigations and site visits to document existing conditions and collect data to support design efforts.

- Compile engineering reports, technical studies, and project documentation for internal and client use.

- Perform utility research and coordination to support project planning, service requirements, and infrastructure assessments.

- Assist engineering staff with electrical system layouts, equipment selection, and design development activities.

- Utilize industry-leading design tools and software to gain hands-on experience with real-world engineering projects.

- Collaborate with experienced engineers and designers while gaining exposure to a variety of commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, and mission-critical projects.

What You'll Need:

- Currently pursuing degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering

- Knowledge of circuits, Ohm’s Law, basic electrical engineering principles

- Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit, preferred

- Computer competencies include proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

- Good grammatical, spelling, and proofreading skills

- Good communication skills in dealing with clients and co-workers

- Organized and professional

- Valid driver’s license
