Role Overview

As a Shop Technician, you will perform service and maintenance on fire extinguishers in a fixed-location shop environment with no travel required. You will help keep equipment ready for use, maintain accurate service records, and support a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform service and maintenance on fire extinguishers, including recharging, testing, and six- and twelve-year maintenance work.
- Accurately complete reports, inspection tags, paperwork, and maintenance records for extinguisher service activities.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on extinguisher shop test equipment.
- Maintain the organization, operation, and cleanliness of the work area.
- Use hand tools safely and complete repetitive production tasks, including lifting, sliding, and general extinguisher handling.
- Wear all minimum PPE required by Johnson Controls, as well as specialized PPE when needed for specific work situations.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at work.
- Complete required employment paperwork, such as timecards, in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in periodic Johnson Controls business meetings and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the business.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience is not required; on-the-job training is provided.
- Ability to operate hand tools and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions, including lifting, sliding, and general production work.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a required licensing test.
- Ability to pass a drug test, background check, and BMV check.
- Comfort working in a shop environment and maintaining accurate records.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $19-$24 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
