The Role

We're looking for a Product Manager Technical to join our team in Dublin, working on card payments technology for a leading global payments client. In this role, you'll sit at the intersection of technical depth and product strategy, translating complex payment processing concepts into clear, actionable requirements for engineering and business stakeholders alike. You'll bring a strong understanding of card payment flows and standards, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to guide features from concept through to delivery, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys shaping products that power real-world financial transactions at scale.

What You'll Do

- Apply strong technical knowledge of card payment processes, including authorization, clearing, and settlement, and interactions between issuers, acquirers, and payment networks
- Leverage knowledge of ISO 8583 and ISO 20022 standards in product decisions
- Engage with customers, financial institutions, merchants, and internal engineering teams to understand technical feasibility and constraints
- Bring a customer-focused mindset and clearly articulate customer problems and needs
- Participate in intake discussions and ensure technical requirements are clearly defined and aligned with business goals
- Maintain and prioritize the product backlog in line with product goals
- Define and write user stories, describing current and proposed flows
- Articulate feature hypotheses and evaluate the outcomes of each feature
- Define stories for downstream teams, breaking prioritized features into functional, actionable user stories
- Provide initial sizing and level-of-effort estimates
- Prepare updates for customer communication, internal documents, and technical/functional specifications, and support internal and external training
- Walk through features and stories with the feature team and assist with story point scoring
- Own acceptance criteria and review test cases
- Participate in Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, and Demos
- Validate demos and showcase products, define API requirements, and create and maintain documentation as part of the SDLC

- Strong technical background and understanding of card payment processes, including authorization, clearing, and settlement
- Understanding of interactions between issuers, acquirers, and payment networks
- Knowledge of ISO 8583 and ISO 20022 standards
- Experience engaging with customers, financial institutions, merchants, and internal engineering teams
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to articulate customer problems and needs
- Experience maintaining and prioritizing a product backlog and writing user stories
- Ability to break down features into actionable stories for downstream teams
- Experience providing sizing and level-of-effort estimates
- Experience preparing technical and functional specifications and customer-facing communications
- Familiarity with Agile ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, and Demos
- Experience defining API requirements and maintaining SDLC documentation
