Managing Director, Hyderabad Lonza Capability Centre & Global IT Data and Digital Platforms Delivery Lead

Lonza is establishing a Lonza Capability Centre (LCC) in Hyderabad, a strategic hub designed to build and scale differentiated enterprise capabilities across functions including Quality, Supply Chain, Master Data Management, Finance, Procurement, Marketing and IT. We are looking for a Managing Director, Hyderabad LCC & Global IT Data and Digital Platforms Delivery Lead to build, scale and lead what is expected to become the largest and fastest-growing site within Lonza's global capability centre network.

This is a distinctive builder-operator leadership role combining two complementary mandates: leading the Hyderabad LCC as Site Managing Director while also owning global delivery leadership for Software Engineering, Digital, Data and AI platforms. You will build the centre at pace, establish a high-performing culture and operating model, and position Hyderabad as a strategic capability hub for Lonza, while ensuring world-class technology delivery, scalability and innovation across our global organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Define and execute the Hyderabad LCC site strategy, translating Lonza's global LCC ambition into a scalable operating model aligned with enterprise and functional priorities.
- Build and scale the Hyderabad LCC from its current organization toward an ambition of 800+ employees, establishing the leadership, governance, operational and financial foundations required for sustainable growth.
- Chair the Hyderabad Cross-Functional Site Leadership Team and create strong alignment across functional leaders, fostering a unified site culture, shared objectives and high standards of execution.
- Position Lonza Hyderabad as a strategic capability and talent hub, building strong relationships with global leadership and the external ecosystem while representing Lonza with relevant government and institutional stakeholders.
- Attract, develop and retain exceptional talent and leadership capabilities, embedding Lonza's values and creating an inclusive, high-performance culture as the centre scales.
- Lead global engineering and delivery across Software, Digital, Data and AI platforms, ensuring delivery excellence, quality, reliability, security, performance and scalability.
- Establish and scale technology capabilities through Hyderabad, including reusable Digital, Data, AI and GenAI platforms, shared services, engineering tooling and standardized delivery patterns.
- Partner across Enterprise IT and business teams to translate prioritized demand into scalable technology delivery while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, privacy, compliance and Responsible AI standards.
- Own workforce, capability and capacity planning across Software Engineering, Digital Platforms, Data and AI delivery, continuously improving engineering productivity, automation and delivery maturity.
- Ensure robust site governance, financial management, risk and compliance while driving continuous improvement and innovation across the LCC; serve as a Board member for the Lonza India legal entity.

Required experience:

- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in multinational organizations, with significant experience leading large Global Capability Centres, shared services, technology organizations or global business operations.
- Proven experience establishing, scaling or transforming Global Capability Centres (GCCs), Shared Service Centres (SSCs) or comparable global delivery organizations, ideally with substantial exposure to India.
- Demonstrated success building and leading large, cross-functional and geographically distributed organizations in complex global matrix environments.
- Strong technology leadership experience, with demonstrated success in large-scale digital transformation and a strong understanding of Software Engineering, Digital, Data, AI platforms and modern technology operating models.
- Proven ability to translate enterprise strategy into execution, scaling organizations and capabilities while driving operational excellence, transformation and measurable business value.
- Exceptional people leadership, with a track record of attracting, developing and retaining high-performing leadership teams and creating an inclusive, high-performance culture.
- Strong executive presence and stakeholder management capabilities, with demonstrated ability to influence C-suite and senior global leaders across functions and geographies without relying solely on formal authority.
- Strong commercial and operational acumen, combined with disciplined governance, financial management, risk management and performance management capabilities.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline; Master's degree, MBA or equivalent is preferred. Business fluency in English is required.
- International and multicultural leadership experience, with the ability to navigate external ecosystems and willingness to travel globally to support the continued evolution of Lonza's Capability Centre network.
