The Opportunity

This position is field based and works with the Abbott Diabetes Care Division.  We’re focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.  As Manager, Market Access , you will lead and execute Western Canada's market access and stakeholder engagement strategy, translating regional priorities into impactful initiatives that influence policy, build trusted relationships with key external stakeholders, improve patient access to innovative technologies, and support Abbott Diabetes Care's business objectives.

What You’ll Do

Drive market access strategies that advance the Diabetes Division's business objectives across Canada by:

- Builds strong relationships with external stakeholders, policy makers and consultants across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba (e.g., HTA experts, provincial drug plan representatives, health ministries, Diabetes Canada, provincial diabetes organizations, advocacy groups and professional associations).
- Continually assess Western Canadian healthcare policy dynamics, and adjusts value propositions and reimbursement or pricing strategies as required
- Cultivate effective working relationships with key government officials, payors (public and private), influential health care providers, and other market influencers (i.e. Advocacy Groups, Coalitions, etc.).
- Develop relationships with Key Opinion Leaders to serve as advocates for ADC products’ clinical and economic effectiveness to public and private payors
- Develop reimbursement value propositions, health economic & outcomes research strategies, and submission dossiers for all ADC products.
- Proactively identifies and develops strategies to address short- & long-term reimbursement risks and opportunities for ADC products in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Incorporates contingencies and mitigation strategies into these plans.
- Proactively identifies and develops pricing strategies for ADC Canada product and builds contingencies and options to mitigate potential risks and exposures.
- Work closely with global market access colleagues to provide policy makers with customized and relevant clinical and HEOR information and submissions that result in successful reimbursement strategies for Abbott products.
- Collaborate with ADC Market Access colleagues globally, sharing best practices and key learnings across countries.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant filed such as Public Policy, HTA, Clinical Epidemiology, Health Economics, Political Science, Communications, Business Administration or Healthcare Management.
- Master’s Degree or PhD (preferred): Public Policy, Health Economics, Clinical Epidemiology, HTA, Business Administration (MBA), or a healthcare-related field to demonstrate deeper understanding of both public and policy and the healthcare landscape.
- Additional Certifications (optional but beneficial): Professional certifications in stakeholder management, public affairs, or government relations.
- Minimum five plus years of experience.
- Proven track record in market access, stakeholder relations, government relations, public affairs, or external affairs within the healthcare, medical device, or pharmaceutical industry.
- Candidates should have demonstrated success in working with key external stakeholders like government officials, HTA bodies, healthcare professionals and patient associations groups.
- Strong understanding of public policy, HTA, and regulatory environments.  Experience engaging with government policy makers and advocacy organizations is critical.
- Strategic relationship-building: significant experience in building and maintaining long term professional relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and act with urgency: demonstrated success in working in fast-paced environments as responding to urgent matters and managing evolving priorities are crucial.
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven track record of developing tactical plans, creating executive-ready materials, delivering clear and compelling messages, and building alignment across internal and external audiences, including senior leaders.
- Project management and resource oversight: experience in managing external agencies or consultants, budgets, and multistakeholder projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Healthcare industry knowledge: familiarity with the healthcare ecosystem at a national or provincial level, particularly with payers, healthcare providers, reimbursement, and market access frameworks. Previous experience working within a pharmaceutical, medical device or biotechnology company is highly preferred.
- Proven proactive work ethic: highly motivated self-starter with experience working in roles that require a high level of proactivity, providing regular updates and ensuring alignment with the organization’s objectives without needing to be asked.
- PC literate including Word, PowerPoint, Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of statistics.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (~25%+).
- This position supports Western Canada.
- Proven leadership skills.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $120,000.00 to $168,000.00 CAD. The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
