About this role
Responsible for the technical production and oversight of all media initiated and generated through the Communications Department at Texas Divisional Headquarters; provides a uniform level of quality assurance in media produced and adherence to Salvation Army values, policies and procedures; provides training to Divisional and field communications staff in technical aspects of media production; establishes and maintains the inventory of all media related equipment; serves as part of the video and photography team as assigned for Divisional events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Video Production Responsibilities (60%)
Directs, shoots, and edits all media productions for the Texas Division including studio, on-location, special events and projects.
- Operates and maintains a variety of computer hardware and software, cameras, decks, recording equipment and video editing systems.
- Selects shoot locations; prepares set design and layout for video and live productions, selects appropriate recording equipment, light placement, and shot compositions.
- Sets up engineer equipment for all productions including cameras, lighting, audio recording and transportation where necessary.
- Oversees the production of various video projects which may involve travel throughout the Texas Division.
- Provides videos that can support the ministry of local Corps units – bible study, sermon illustrations, small group materials, etc.
- Provides videos for specific Divisional events as requested – Family Camp, Youth Councils, etc.
- Provides videos for local units Community Relations & Development needs – Capital Campaigns, Annual Dinners etc.
- Creates, establishes, and managed protocol for accepting video project proposals in the Texas Division.
- Ensures compliance with established video production standards as well as the religious/evangelic mission of The Salvation Army.
- Develops and implements video production standards and procedures for the Texas Division.
- Researches, develops, and shares new technologies, skills, and creative processes.
- Manages and inventories all production equipment and ensure equipment remains in good condition and working order.
- Conducts regular maintenance and arrange for timely repairs as necessary.
- Conducts research for production equipment purchase and provide budgetary pricing and purchase recommendations for future needs.
- Digital Marketing Responsibilities (15%)
Provides content contributions for the Texas Division website, social media platforms, and eMarketing.
- Photography Responsibilities (10%)
Provides leadership and photography training to the Divisional and field communications staff.
- Assigns photography responsibilities as necessary.
- Schedules and shoots annual portraits of all Texas Division Officers at Officers Councils.
- Serves as a technical resource to the field and to non-Salvation Army contacts regarding all photography subjects.
- Training Responsibilities (10%)
Provides training in video production throughout the Texas Division with focus on full-time communications staff.
- Develops best practices and provide training to Corps units for operation and purchase of A/V equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language.
- Ability to continue to learn new techniques for producing new media content.
- Ability to adequately type data and stories into a computer.
- Ability to travel, which may be extensive during times of disaster response; work will involve occasional travel throughout the Texas Division and beyond in order to film video coverage when assigned.
- Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with walking, lifting, and carrying objects (25-50lbs.) occasionally.
Working Conditions:
- Work usually is performed in a studio/office/video editing environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like with the exception of travel or disaster conditions.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Video Production or Communications,
AND
- Five years experience working with production video and editing,
OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
- Valid State Drivers License
