About this role

Teaching and Choreography

Training period includes paid apprenticeship learning under the guidance of a master teacher, and participating in training and enrichment workshops to learn the pedagogy and build teaching skills. Schedule can range from 3-12 hours/week

Prepares assignments and lesson plans for classes as directed by lead teaching artist

Works collaboratively with teaching and music team to create choreography for outreach programs

Production Support

Works backstage in support of culminating performances for programs

General Artistic Duties:

Attends all enrichment workshops and staff meetings as needed

Follows NDI New Mexico program curriculum set by program director

Provides program director with required materials and information as needed

Subbing classes when available

Other duties as needed and mutually agreed upon

Qualifications

Working Conditions, Environment and Physical Requirements:

Requires weekend and evening hours

Requires extensive physical movement, dance, high energy, and stamina

In applicable programs performs functions in a variety of environments including: NDI New Mexico offices, schools, residency sites, and other locations

In applicable programs may require reimbursable in-state travel to NDI New Mexico locations, participating schools, residency sites, and community events

Job Specific Requirements:

Professional dance performance experience

College level education preferred

Minimum 1-2 years of experience in job-related duties

Flexibility in work schedule

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
