Industrial Engineer

Position Summary:

Working under the general direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, this position primarily works within Operations to improve productivity, efficiency and safety through the implementation of industry best standards for light assembly. Also works with other departments, including but not limited to Engineering and Supply Chain, to reach similar goals.

Responsibilities:

- Develop production line balancing for varying staff levels for serial and cellular layouts in regard to new and existing products
- Develop work instructions based on the line-balancing plan.
- Perform regular capacity analysis based on available forecast information
- Use the DMAIC process/tools to identify and justify improvement projects
- Improve part presentation through flow racking, parts trays, ergonomic improvements, etc.
- Maintain current routings in CRM/JDE and use both systems to determine what lines/products benefit the most from line balancing and improved part presentation
- Continue the implementation of the component tracking system including quality auditing and QRM DAQ
- Identify opportunities and develop solutions for improvements to ergonomics
- Other functions as required and assigned by management

Qualifications:

- 1-3 years of proven experience with Lean in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment
- Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with employees at all levels, both independently and in a team environment, with strong engagement with line operators
- Basic database programming knowledge and utilization required (Access, SQL, etc.)
- Ability to lift, bend, perform visual inspections, and demonstrate strong manual dexterity required
- Strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools required
- Experience with brazing/welding operations preferred
- Basic HVAC knowledge preferred
- Proficiency with Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office applications required; CRM experience preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
