Senior Solution Consultant

Business Unit: OpenText IT Operations Management (OSM)

Overview

OpenText is transforming IT Operations Management (OSM) with a unified platform combining IT Service Management (ITSM), Discovery & CMDB, Observability, and AIOps. Our mission is to help enterprises achieve total service visibility, operational excellence, and automation-driven efficiency.

As a Senior Solution Consultant – ITSM & Discovery, you will be a key presales leader and trusted advisor, driving customer success by connecting technology with business outcomes. You will help organizations modernize IT operations, optimize service delivery, and establish accurate, actionable configuration and service models through OpenText’s OSM portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Engagement

- Act as the primary technical advisor for enterprise accounts focused on ITSM and Discovery/CMDB initiatives.
- Lead discovery workshops to understand customers’ current service management processes, visibility challenges, and operational objectives.
- Map OpenText SMAX and UCMDB capabilities to customer goals, highlighting automation, service correlation, and impact analysis.
- Deliver tailored demonstrations and proof-of-concepts (POCs) showcasing integrated ITSM and Discovery workflows.
- Present compelling value propositions to CxO and IT leadership audiences.

2. Presales Leadership

- Own the technical sales strategy from qualification to closure, ensuring alignment between customer needs and OpenText OSM capabilities.
- Develop and present business cases (ROI/TCO) articulating measurable outcomes such as reduced incident resolution time and improved service visibility.
- Support RFP/RFI responses with detailed, competitive, and technically sound proposals.
- Collaborate with account executives, product management, and services to drive successful customer engagement.

3. Technical & Domain Expertise

- IT Service Management (Primary Focus):

• Expertise in Incident, Change, Problem, Request, and Knowledge Management.
• Experience designing and implementing modern ITSM architectures with automation and self-service capabilities.
• Knowledge of frameworks such as ITIL 4, IT4IT, and SRE.

- Discovery & CMDB (Primary Focus):

• Deep knowledge of UCMDB or equivalent platforms (ServiceNow, BMC Helix, Device42, etc.).
• Ability to model dependencies, manage configuration data quality, and drive service impact visualization.
• Experience integrating CMDB with ITSM, event, and automation tools to enable contextual insights.

- Observability, AIOps & Network Management (Complementary Focus):

• Understanding of event correlation, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis.
• Ability to position observability and AIOps as extensions of CMDB-driven service awareness.
• Familiarity with network discovery, topology visualization, and performance monitoring.

4. Collaboration & Enablement

- Partner with internal teams across Product Management, Presales, and Services to ensure consistent solution alignment.
- Share field insights, best practices, and success stories to enhance presales knowledge and execution quality.
- Represent OpenText as a subject matter expert at industry events, webinars, and customer engagements.

Qualifications & Experience

- 7+ years in enterprise presales or solution consulting with a focus on ITSM and Discovery/CMDB.
- Proven experience building and demonstrating integrated service management and configuration management solutions.
- Strong understanding of IT operations, event management, and automation processes.
- Familiarity with key competitors (ServiceNow, BMC, Dynatrace, Splunk, SolarWinds) and ability to position OpenText effectively.
- Solid understanding of IT process frameworks (ITIL, IT4IT, SRE) and service modeling practices.

Compensation: At OpenText, we offer a thoughtfully designed benefits package that supports your physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing. As you move through the hiring process, we’re happy to provide more details about our compensation programs, including variable and commission compensation opportunities for eligible roles, vacation entitlement, and paid time off.

Salary Range: $151K - $227K; Depending on the candidate’s education, experience, skills, geographical location, and alignment with internal equity and external market, actual salary may vary and be higher or lower than the range posted.

California Residents: The pay range above is a reasonable estimate of salary based on pay scale, candidate experience, skills, and education. In addition to the comprehensive benefits noted above, the role may be eligible for bonus or commissions.
