Summary

The Builder’s Design Center Manager leads the strategic alignment and operational excellence of Interior Logic Group's Design Centers serving the Builder’s across multiple divisions. This role functions as a business partner to the Builder's National Design Studio and Model Merchandising team, providing active leadership to Design Center Managers at all locations (PHX, LV, RDU, and future expansion opportunities). The role ensures consistent execution of the Builder’s expectations, standardizes operations and performance metrics across ILG divisions, and supports national initiatives while upholding a commitment to operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and the homebuyer experience.

Essential Job Functions

Strategic Partnership & Business Alignment

- Serve as strategic business partner to the Builder’s National Design Studio and Model Merchandising team
- Represent ILG interests at the Builder’s National Design Council and key strategic forums
- Align ILG back-office functions and processes with the Builder’s requirements and best practices
- Support the Builder’s national product initiatives, programs, and market rollouts across all ILG divisions
- Provide regular business reviews and performance updates to the Builder’s leadership

Leadership & Oversight of Design Center Managers

- Provide active leadership, mentorship, and dotted-line supervision to Design Center Managers at PHX, LV, RDU locations and any future expansion sites
- Conduct monthly 1:1 sessions with each Design Center Manager to assess performance, address challenges, and drive continuous improvement
- Hold Design Center Managers accountable for operational metrics, customer satisfaction, and alignment with The Builder’s expectations
- Recommend personnel actions and support professional development for Design Center Manager team members
- Facilitate peer learning and best practice sharing across locations

Operational Excellence & Process Standardization

- Streamline and standardize ILG business processes to align with the Builder’s Design Studio operations
- Develop and implement consistent operational procedures, tools, and workflows across all the Builder’s design centers
- Maintain and optimize Design Center tracking systems (DC Tracker, online scheduling, reporting platforms)
- Oversee compliance with agreed-upon service levels, deadlines, and scope of services

Metrics, Performance & Reporting

- Establish and standardize key performance metrics across all ILG–the Builder’s Design Centers
- Champion top performance at individual locations and identify areas of opportunity for improvement
- Develop and manage comprehensive reporting dashboards for both company and the Builder’s visibility
- Track and report on builder survey scores, Envision progress, design sales metrics, and operational KPIs
- Monitor buyer schedules and forecasting to ensure alignment with builder volume and expectations
- Prepare status reports and business reviews as defined by contract and internal requirements

Vendor Management & Training Coordination

- Maintain consistent connectivity with the Builder’s division purchasing leadership
- Coordinate with the Builder’s key vendors and internal teams to deliver product training for Design Center staff
- Support the design team's ongoing education on product knowledge, applications, and system capabilities
- Develop and disseminate training materials and resources to support staff competency

Strategic Projects & Model Home Management

- Lead major strategic initiatives, including design studio remodels/renovations (e.g., Phoenix design studio rebuild) and planning for expansion locations
- Oversee Design Center layout, product selection, and operational setup for major projects
- Manage the Builder’s Model Home operations at each division and ensure delivery on expectations
- Support special projects including builder programs, upgrade flooring initiatives, and builder-specific materials
- Work collaboratively with field operations, sales, and construction teams on design center–related initiatives

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work collaboratively with Sales, Account Management, and Operations teams on business modeling and execution
- Coordinate with onsite builder sales staff to ensure proper materials, samples, and communication support
- Support off-site design centers with pricing, product grouping, sampling, and technical guidance
- Facilitate problem resolution between field operations and design teams

Education & Experience

Required

- Proven leader with a minimum of 5 years of design and management experience working with homebuilders, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role
- 3–5 years of interior design experience
- Ability to work with web-based computerized design systems
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
- Experience managing and reporting on operational metrics and KPIs
- Experience leading multiple locations or teams across diverse markets
- Ability to travel to multiple locations as needed
- Must pass work eligibility requirements

Preferred

- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Business Administration, or a related field
- New home construction experience in a multi-location environment
- Experience with process standardization and operational improvement
- Familiarity with home builder industry standards, products, and vendor relationships
- Project management experience with design center buildouts or remodels
