Remote Oncology RN Data Abstractor

Job Title: Oncology Registered Nurse – Remote EMR Data Abstraction Specialist Job Description This role focuses on accurately and efficiently abstracting oncology-related data from electronic medical records into an electronic data capture tool. The position supports clinical, research, or pharmaceutical initiatives by ensuring high-quality data abstraction, strict adherence to HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements, and timely completion of quality and accuracy testing. The role is fully remote and operates during standard business hours in Central Standard Time. Responsibilities

- Accurately and efficiently conduct electronic medical record (EMR) abstraction services for oncology-related patient data.
- Review and abstract relevant clinical information from electronic medical records into an electronic data capture tool with a high degree of precision.
- Ensure all abstracted data meets established quality and accuracy standards and complies with project requirements.
- Complete quality and accuracy testing as requested and within specified timelines.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and all associated patient confidentiality requirements at all times.
- Effectively navigate and utilize electronic health record (EHR) databases to locate and extract required data elements.
- Collaborate with team members to support project goals and maintain consistent data abstraction practices.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written form with internal stakeholders.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
- Use standard productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Teams to support documentation, communication, and reporting needs.

Essential Skills

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Oncology RN experience, including hands-on clinical exposure in oncology settings.
- Demonstrated experience in electronic medical chart data abstraction.
- Proficiency in navigating and working within electronic health record (EHR) databases.
- Experience performing chart abstractions in an oncology setting; academic or research experience is helpful.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a remote work environment.
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Teams for communication and collaboration.
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and protecting patient confidentiality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred.
- Clinical experience and/or pharmaceutical experience, particularly in oncology, is preferred.
- Previous data analysis experience is a plus.
- Experience working in academic or research environments is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team in a remote setting.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage workload independently.

Work Environment This is a fully remote position that operates Monday through Friday during standard business hours, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Standard Time (CST). The role requires reliable high-speed internet access to support secure remote connectivity to electronic health record systems, electronic data capture tools, and collaboration platforms. The work is computer-based and involves extensive use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams for communication and coordination with colleagues. The environment emphasizes confidentiality, data accuracy, and adherence to regulatory standards, with a strong focus on teamwork, professionalism, and timely delivery of high-quality work.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
