JOB TITLE:
Clinical Assistant Professor
JOB PURPOSE:
The Clinical Assistant Professor serves as a physician educator within the University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program, providing clinical supervision, teaching, mentorship, and evaluation of resident physicians while delivering high-quality patient care. This position supports the educational mission of the residency program through direct resident instruction, curriculum development, scholarly activity, and participation in program administration and continuous improvement. The faculty member maintains an active behavioral clinical practice at the Educational Health Center Clinic and contributes to the advancement of family medicine education, patient care, and community health.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
RESIDENT EDUCATION:
1. Provide clinical supervision and teaching to residents during direct patient care activities.
2. Develop and deliver educational lectures, conferences, and other didactic learning experiences for residents.
3. Assess and document resident performance in accordance with program and accreditation requirements.
4. Coordinate and oversee assigned curricular components, ensuring compliance with ACGME standards and program objectives.
5. Serve as a faculty advisor and mentor to assigned residents, providing guidance on academic, professional, and career development.
PATIENT CARE:
1. Provide comprehensive patient care and manage an assigned patient panel at the Educational Health Center Clinic in Cheyenne, including an average of 2 clinic sessions per week when not assigned to inpatient adult service coverage.
2. Participate in attending physician call coverage as scheduled.
SERVICE AND ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Attend and actively participate in weekly faculty meetings, annual program evaluations, and other required residency program meetings.
2. Contribute to the administrative operations and educational mission of the residency program.
3. Participate in faculty development activities to enhance teaching, leadership, and clinical skills.
4. Engage in scholarly activities, including research, quality improvement initiatives, presentations, and publications, as appropriate.
5. Support additional programmatic initiatives and responsibilities that advance the residency program's mission, goals, and strategic priorities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Doctor of Allopathic Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution. Successful completion of an accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.
EXPERIENCE: Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Wyoming.
OTHER:
- Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
- Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
1. Fellowship training in Family Medicine or equivalent advanced training.
2. Prior experience serving as faculty in an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
1. Experience providing comprehensive obstetrical care, including the performance of cesarean deliveries.
2. Experience practicing in a Federally Qualified Health Care (FQHC) or similar community-based primary care setting.
KNOWLEDGE AND LEADERSHIP
1. Demonstrated knowledge of ACGME accreditation standards and requirements for Family Medicine residency training programs.
2. Proven leadership experience in clinical, academic, educational, or administrative settings.
3. Strong commitment to resident education, mentorship, and the advancement of academic medicine.

WORK LOCATION:
On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions onsite in Cheyenne, WY, understanding our location is around 7,220 feet above sea level.
