Position Description:
Title: Case Aide Reports To: Lead Veteran Advocate
Hours: Full Time Supervises: None
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly) OSHA Exposure Category: III
Position Summary:
This position will perform paraprofessional case management and program participant activities to support and augment professional services provided to participants.
Essential Job Functions:
•Transports clients to and from visits for housing and other resources related to individual service plan;
•Assists Veteran Advocates/Case Managers in service delivery for program participants in office and/or home settings;
•Prepares reports regarding participant contacts;
•Accompanies Veteran Advocates/Case Managers on emergency and other field visits;
•Obtains medical, social and other records to assist staff in developing participant’s service plan;
•Makes collateral contacts to community agencies such as veteran affairs, doctors, police and social service agencies to obtain necessary information;
•Assists participants in completing forms relating to assistance or service requests;
•May perform clerical activity such as data collection, filing and obtaining case files and copying and arranging various documents, referral information and other written material;
•Gather and distribute participants’ food, clothing and household items;
•Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision and goals of WestCare Foundation; and
•All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
Education:
•High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of college-level education is required. Two (2) years of alcohol and other drug counseling experience may be substituted for one (1) year of college-level education. No more than one (1) year of college-level education may be substituted with alcohol and other drug counseling experience.
Experience and Competencies :
•Two (2) years of experience in providing direct counseling services to persons with alcohol and/or drug problems is preferred;
•Intake and assessment experience is preferred;
•Marketing and/or sales experience preferred;
•Bilingual is preferred;
•Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
•Excellent communication skills;
•Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion;
•Ability to work well in a team environment;
•Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality;
•Professional appearance and demeanor;
•Must be culturally/linguistically sensitive to populations served;
•Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required; and
•CPR Certification and First Aid Certification.
