What this job involves

The Engineering Manager leads programmatic oversight of all mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems, focusing on commissioning new installations, warranty management, and technical root cause analysis rather than day-to-day operations. This role serves as the key technical point of contact for stakeholders, managing engineering teams and vendor groups to ensure strategic delivery of M&E projects and performance optimization. You'll provide technical thought leadership on system commissioning, warranty claim management, and failure analysis while developing long-term maintenance strategies, managing budgets and contracts, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

- Leading commissioning activities for new M&E installations and system upgrades, ensuring proper handover documentation and performance validation
- Managing warranty programs across all M&E systems, tracking defects, coordinating vendor responses, and ensuring timely resolution of warranty claims
- Conducting root cause analysis investigations for equipment failures and system performance issues, developing corrective action plans to prevent recurrence
- Developing and implementing programmatic maintenance strategies and technical standards rather than executing daily operational tasks
- Managing and coaching the engineering team to build technical competency in commissioning protocols, failure analysis methodologies, and warranty administration
- Overseeing vendor performance on commissioning deliverables and warranty obligations, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and contractual requirements
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis of failure trends, warranty claims, and commissioning outcomes to optimize long-term system reliability

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

- Site presence required for commissioning activities, failure investigations, and stakeholder engagement
- Participation in emergency evacuation procedures as needed
- Active involvement in health and safety reviews and risk identification during commissioning phases
- Work environment includes mechanical and electrical plant areas during inspection and analysis activities
- May require witnessing equipment testing and performance validation across multiple facility areas
- Occasional availability for critical system commissioning or failure analysis outside standard hours

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical), Diploma in Building Services, or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 5 years of experience in M&E commissioning, warranty management, or technical engineering roles
- Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis methodologies and failure investigation techniques
- Strong understanding of M&E system commissioning processes, testing protocols, and acceptance criteria
- Experience managing warranty programs and coordinating warranty claim resolution with manufacturers and contractors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder presentations
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret system performance data and identify trends

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with Critical Environment facility commissioning (data centers, cleanrooms, mission-critical facilities)
- Knowledge of industry commissioning standards (ASHRAE, CIBSE, or equivalent certification bodies)
- Background in reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) or predictive maintenance program development
- Experience with Sewerage Treatment Plant or specialized building systems commissioning
- Track record of implementing failure prevention programs based on root cause analysis findings
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems for performance monitoring
- Previous experience mentoring technical teams in commissioning best practices and failure analysis techniques

Expected compensation for this position:

175,000.00 – 185,000.00 USD per year

Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
