Property Controller

Bonita National Golf & Country Club , located in Bonita Springs, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Full-Time Property Controller! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. The Property Controller plays a critical role in ensuring financial sustainability and strategic advancement of the community. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Controller will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance. Additionally, the Controller will work closely with the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team to develop and implement financial strategies that align with Bonita Nationals mission and long-term goals.

The Controller will serve as the primary liaison to the Finance Committee, ensuring sound financial and technological strategies are in place.

Compensation: $165,000 + based on experience, plus bonus

Financial Strategy & Leadership

- Direct and manage daily accounting operations.

- Prepare and analyze the monthly financial reporting package, monitor budget-to-actual performance, advise management and the finance committee on variances with recommended corrective actions, and review and distribute the completed financials,

- Maintain the fixed asset subledger, post related entries, and reconcile it with the general ledger.

- Oversee the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and Inventory functions.

- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the community and long-term sustainability.

- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the Board of Directors and the Senior Leadership team.

- Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and propose solutions to improve operational efficiency.

- Track and report on all capital projects and long-term financial plans.

- Lead, mentor and develop the accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

- Lead preparation and coordination for annual external and internal audits.

Financial Reporting

- Oversee all financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP including the requirements for Common Interest Realty Associations.

- Prepare accurate GAAP financial statements, reports and presentations for the Finance Committee, Board of Directors, and members.

- Manage efficient month-end and year-end closing processes.

Budgeting & Forecasting

- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the General Manager, Board of Directors, and Department Leaders.

- Oversee forecasting, financial modeling and variance analysis to support business decisions.

Cash Flow & Risk Management

- Manage cash flow & cash flow forecasting, participate in investment decisions, and mitigate financial risks to ensure financial stability.

- Develop strategies for capital management, including financing, debt management, and investment opportunities.

- Oversee risk management policies, insurance coverage, and financial controls.

Compliance & Audit

- Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and reporting requirements.

- Coordinate audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

- Maintain and enforce strong internal controls and governance practices.

Committees: Finance & IT

- Act as the primary liaison to the Finance Committee, preparing and presenting financial reports, analysis, and recommendations.

- Collaborate with the committee to align financial strategies with organizational objectives.

- Facilitate clear and consistent communication between the Finance Committee and Senior Leadership Team.

- Assist in evaluating and approving technology investments or infrastructure upgrades.

- Support the development of technology strategies that drive operational efficiency and data security.

Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting. Masters degree or CPA certification is preferred.

- Experience: 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior financial role. Private club experience is highly desirable.

- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, applicable tax regulations and GAAP compliance.

- Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools. Knowledge of NorthStar accounting system, is preferred.

- Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, drive strategic initiatives, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make sound decisions.
