Engineering Manager - Reotemp Fab

Job Description:

A highly experienced and driven engineer to lead all engineering functions for the development, specification, and production of thermowells, flushing rings, valves, and miscellaneous fabrication opportunities. This role is responsible for ensuring our product designs align with industry standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, API), guiding product implementation into manufacturing, and supporting sales with technical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development & Engineering Leadership

- Engineering Manager supports all Fab product lines to ensure thermowells, flushing rings, valves and future products  are designed to meet or exceed industry standards (ASME, ANSI, API, etc.).

- Review customer specifications and application requirements to provide appropriate design solutions or adaptations.

- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of applicable codes, certifications, and external compliance standards, ensuring full regulatory alignment across products.

- Serve as a key liaison between design, production, and commercial teams to balance cost, lead time, performance, and compliance.

Manufacturing Integration & Readiness

- Manage and oversee the Machine Shop including team development.

- Implement standard-compliant designs into manufacturing, working closely with production, machinists, and quality teams to ensure quality, manufacturability, efficiency, and repeatability.

- Learn, understand, develop, and implement internal manufacturing processes that comply with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AWS, etc.).

- Provide oversight on the development and validation of CNC programs, fixture designs, and welding processes.

- Support the internal setup of new manufacturing capabilities, including facility layout planning, equipment specification and installation, and process integration.

- Assist in evaluating manufacturing requirements to determine which processes should be procured externally vs. set up internally, based on cost, capacity, complexity, and strategic value.

- Assist in coordinating with suppliers and internal teams for tooling, equipment, and material sourcing.

- Develop work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality standards.

- Support or lead any required process control plan development, and process documentation.

Customer & Sales Support

- Support sales and customer service teams by providing technical expertise during quoting, product selection, and specification reviews.

- Engage with customers, when necessary, to understand technical requirements, resolve product or process-related issues, and provide timely engineering support that contributes to customer satisfaction and account success.

Compliance, Documentation & Product Validation

- Ensure all technical documentation, including drawings, data sheets, material specifications, and testing protocols, meets regulatory and customer requirements.

- Oversee product validation, including pressure testing, material certification, dimensional inspections, and compliance verification.

- Create and maintain Installation, Operation, and Maintenance (IOM) manuals, as well as technical bulletins and product briefs for core products within the Reotemp Fabrication business unit.

- Collaborate with quality and compliance teams to ensure production practices support audit readiness and regulatory compliance.

Continuous Improvement & Team Development

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve efficiency, and ensure repeatability.

- Mentor and guide junior engineers, machinists, and drafters as the team grows.

Qualifications

General Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

- 7+ years of engineering experience in process control components (e.g., thermowells, valves, instrumentation fittings, etc.).

- Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards and design codes (e.g., ASME PTC 19.3 TW, ASME B31.1/B31.3, ANSI, API, NACE).

- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with engineering documentation control.

- Proven track record of bringing engineered products into successful production.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Collaborative mindset with experience supporting sales, quality, and manufacturing functions.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience working with CNC-machined components and precision manufacturing processes.

- Background in pressure-containing or pressure-rated components.

- Familiarity with product certification processes (e.g., PED, CRN, ISO9001).
