Our client, Central Midwest Carpenters Training Center, is growing their Greenwood team!

Central Midwest Carpenters Training Center seeks a Bookkeeper to coordinate day-to-day accounting operations and payroll and liaise with outside accounting partners to ensure accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial processes.

About the Role

This role will serve as the primary internal resource for routine accounting operations, with CPA-level oversight and additional financial planning support. The ideal candidate is comfortable owning the accounting cycle, identifying discrepancies, maintaining organized records, and consistently meeting deadlines.

Key responsibilities include:

- Managing general ledger activity and maintaining accurate financial records

- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable

- Processing payroll and benefits activities

- Processing stipend and reimbursement activities

- Supporting bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations

- Supporting month-end closing activities and preparing supporting schedules

- Recording journal entries and maintaining appropriate documentation

- Supporting financial reporting and providing accurate information to leadership

- Maintaining organized records for audits, tax filings, and other compliance requirements

- Working with external CPA consultants and auditors to provide requested documentation and financial information

- Supporting strong internal controls and appropriate separation of financial duties

- Partnering with colleagues across departments and locations to resolve accounting questions and maintain consistent practices

- Assisting with other accounting and financial projects as needed

Ideal Candidate

You are a highly organized and dependable accounting professional who enjoys working in the details. You know good bookkeeping is about more than entering transactions. You understand how the pieces fit together and can recognize when something doesn't look right.

You are comfortable managing competing deadlines, following established controls, communicating clearly with others, and taking responsibility for accurate and complete work. You bring sound judgment, discretion, and a high level of integrity to the financial information entrusted to you.

Experience working in a nonprofit, union, multi-entity, or similarly complex environment is especially valuable.

What You’ll Bring

- Significant professional bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally including having visibility into the full accounting cycle

- Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close

- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles and internal controls

- Experience working with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office Suite[365], and bill payment platforms such as Ramp.com

- Ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple priorities and deadlines

- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through

- Experience supporting audits or working with external accountants is preferred

- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered

Location

This is a fully on-site position in Greenwood, Indiana. Some occasional travel may be required to support offices in other locations.
