Tesla is seeking a dynamic and creative Senior EHS Specialist with a focus on permit compliance and management during planning, construction, and modifications of existing facilities. This role strengthens the global Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) team. It ensures compliance with environmental and occupational safety regulations at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg and plays a key role in ensuring that Tesla complies with permits and legal requirements across all phases of site operations.

The EHS Specialist acts as technical lead for the Management of Change process, with a focus on environmental protection and occupational safety. They audit existing operations. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental permits and regulations on future projects and for continuous monitoring of the systems that maintain conformity. A core part of the role is translating permits and conditions into actionable measures and communicating with stakeholders. Further key tasks include analyzing permits and conditions, managing the permit register, and conducting internal audits with reporting to leadership.

- Lead EHS input in Management of Change for planning, construction, and modifications of existing facilities, covering environmental protection, occupational safety, emergency management, and fire protection.
- Translate permit conditions into actionable measures with appointed officers and occupational safety specialists.
- Maintain the permit register for completeness, currency, and ownership.
- Plan and facilitate workshops to hand over permit requirements to the business.
- Track implementation, keep evidence of measures, run internal audits, flag risks, and report to leadership.
- Brief Project Owners, Engineering, Infrastructure, and EPC on relevant conditions at commissioning.
- Serve as the main technical contact for the organization and strengthen coordination across teams.
- Close operational gaps with practical solutions that keep operations compliant.
- Drive assigned workstreams end to end—scope, schedule, obstacles, and risk—and keep leadership informed.
- Improve tools and standards that lock in consistent permit compliance.

- Completed bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or a closely related EHS discipline, or at least 5 years of experience as an occupational safety specialist, ideally with a focus on the automotive industry.
- Basic knowledge of occupational safety, health, and environmental topics, as well as the Workplace Ordinance and related guidelines, is required.
- Experience managing occupational safety and/or environmental compliance programs, with a focus on manufacturing facilities and/or construction projects.
- Solid technical knowledge of implementing and complying with national regulations at large manufacturing sites, and a strong ability to put legal requirements into practice.
- Certifications such as Environmental Officer qualifications, SiGeKo training, and permit planner are an advantage; additional training in hazardous substances, ATEX, fire protection, and machine safety is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and a practical approach to supporting continuous improvement.

- Business-fluent German and English, written and spoken.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
