ASU Operator

Air Liquide Philippines, a fully owned subsidiary of Air Liquide Group, started its operations in 1994 and currently employs 230+ people. We operate air separation units (ASU), hydrogen plants, carbon dioxide plants, cylinder refilling stations and depots, on-site plants and pipelines nationwide. Our main plant is situated in Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, and our head office is in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City.

We serve a wide spectrum of markets and industries including electronics, food processing, pharmaceuticals, metals, automotive, shipbuilding, and hospitals.

Air Liquide Philippines is ISO 9001:2008 certified as well as GMP certified for medical oxygen. In addition, our liquid carbon dioxide plant in Pasig City filled the requirements for Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000) for the manufacture of this gas as a food additive.

Job Summary

The ASU Operator will be responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Air Separation Unit (ASU) plant, ensuring continuous production of industrial gases (oxygen, nitrogen, argon) while adhering to Air Liquide's safety, quality, and environmental standards. This role involves monitoring plant performance, troubleshooting issues, and executing operational procedures to maintain optimal production operability

Job Responsibilities

* Operate and monitor process and auxiliary equipment, including compressors, turbine expanders, distillation columns and pumps via Distributed Control System (DCS) and field instruments.
* Perform routine inspections, adjustments, and minor maintenance on rotating and static machines to ensure continuous and safe operation.
* Respond promptly to alarms and deviations, diagnose operational issues, and implement corrective actions following established procedures.
* Conduct regular quality control checks on ASU process and production outputs to ensure they meet specified purity and quality standards.
* Document daily operational data, production reports, site and maintenance activities accurately and thoroughly.
* Initiate plant start-up and shutdown activities based on business demand, including pre-commissioning checks and post-shutdown logs.
* Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations, including EIS management, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and hot work permits.
* Collaborate effectively with other operators, maintenance teams, process engineer, and facility manager to optimize plant performance and resolve technical issues.
* Identify and report any safety hazards, environmental concerns, or equipment malfunctions to the facility manager.

* Issue and approve safe work permits to maintenance technicians, contractors and temporary workers
* Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational skills and knowledge.

Job Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent
* Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating manufacturing plants, preferably in industrial gas production or a similar continuous manufacturing environment.
* Proven ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFD, Control and Single line diagram, and operational manuals.
* Strong understanding of process safety management principles and practices.
* Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and other process control software.

* Basic knowledge in Computerized Maintenance Management System, IBM MAXIMO
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
* Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
* Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
