About this role

Position Purpose:

Provide assistance to loan officers and staff in all aspects of loan origination, servicing and maintenance through the life of the loan cycle.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Position includes performance of various loan-related duties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with bank policy and regulations, including any or all of the following:

- Data entry of new loans, disbursements, payments, and payoffs.

- Maintain and process real estate loan escrow transactions and accounts.

- Verify accurate loan input and maintenance.

- Prepare and/or assemble loan documentation.

- Process extension and deferral agreements.

- Verify accuracy and compliance of loan documentation.

- Monitor for adequate insurance coverage on loan collateral.

- Complete and retain all compliance-related documents especially as related to flood, RESPA, HMDA, Regulations B and Z.

- File, maintain, archive, retrieve and monitor loan documents whether electronic or hard copy.

- Scan and index loan documents.

- Ensure the banks lien position through timely recording of liens and perfection of collateral positions.

- Respond to credit inquiries.

- Prepare various reports.

- Answers telephone and written inquiries concerning loan processing and information.

- Resolve customer complaints or inquiries in a tactful, effective manner.

- Assist customer contact personnel with queries and activities to improve overall services to bank customers.

- Back-up and assist other loan operations personnel.

- Participate in bank/community activities.

- Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act.

- Cross-sell bank products and services as appropriate.

- Complete required annual training and maintain knowledge relevant to the role.

- Participate in bank and community initiatives to strengthen visibility and reinforce Firstars commitment to the communities it serves.

- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned in support of the Banks priorities and objectives.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities Required:

- Working knowledge of math/accounting.

- Exceptional at managing details while remaining organized.

- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

- Strong customer service skills and ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.

- Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and accomplish a variety of tasks.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel.

- Strong sense of initiative and ability to work independently without close supervision.

Experience and Education Requirements:

- High School Diploma or equivalent.

- One (1) year experience in loan operations.

- Experience boarding loans to a core banking system, filing and recording collateral, and scanning/indexing documentation, is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, with occasional standing and walking throughout the office.

- Occasional bending, reaching or stooping as needed to retrieve files, office supplies, or materials.

- May occasionally lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds (e.g., files, office supplies, packages.)

- Requires the ability to communicate effectively, including the use of visual acuity for reviewing documents and screens and auditory ability for conversations in person and by phone.
