Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing
The consultant will contribute to the work of IOM Tunisia’s Migration Health Division (MHD). The consultant will work under the direct supervision of the Migration Health Officer and in close coordination with MHD physicians, nurses and other relevant MHD personnel. Coordination with Protection, MHPSS, programme and other units may take place when required for appropriate beneficiary support and referral, while the consultant’s primary function remains the provision of psychological services within MHD Medical Direct Assistance.

Under the overall supervision of Head of Sub Office in Sfax, and the direct supervision of the Migration Health Officer and MHD Physician, and in coordination with the MHD medical team and relevant referral services, the consultant will undertake the following duties and responsibilities:

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

- - University degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited academic institution.
- - Professional registration/licensing or authorization to practice psychology in Tunisia, where applicable, is required.

Experience

- - Two (2) years of relevant professional experience in psychological assessment, counselling, mental health or psychosocial support.
- - Demonstrated experience providing direct psychological services to vulnerable populations is highly desirable.

Skills

- Strong psychological assessment, counselling and communication skills.
- Ability to work with vulnerable beneficiaries in a culturally sensitive and non-judgmental manner.
- Good clinical judgment within the scope of professional competence and the consultancy.
- Ability to identify urgent concerns and escalate appropriately.
- Strong documentation, organization and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary health team.

Languages

For this consultancy,

Fluency in Arabic is required.

Working knowledge of French is required.

- Working knowledge of English is an asset.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Notes

IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
