Smile Starters is a general dental practice serving children and young adults ages 1 through 20 . We are dedicated to educating our patients on best practices for optimal oral health between visits. Working with the youngest members of our community allows us to achieve long-term results , which is highly rewarding for our team of Hygienists, Assistants, and Dentists. Many of our former patients now bring their own children to us — a testament to the quality care we provide.

This position allows you to work in a collaborative team setting alongside like-minded dental professionals in a positive and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

- Welcome patients and families to the office with professionalism and warmth

- Conduct pre- and post-operative patient consultations

- Prepare patients for treatments or checkups, ensuring comfort

- Select, prepare, and arrange instruments, equipment, and materials for procedures

- Sterilize instruments according to regulatory standards

- Assist the dentist chairside using 4-handed dentistry

- Perform lab-related tasks as instructed

- Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions

- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked operatory

- Schedule appointments and assist with payment procedures

- Maintain accurate patient records

- Support the dental team with other duties as assigned

Skills & Attributes

- Proven experience as a dental assistant

- Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods

- Understanding of health and safety regulations

- Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks (e.g., coronal polishing) is a plus

- Strong computer skills for scheduling and record-keeping

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable

- Thrives in a busy, active work environment

- Additional certifications or training are an asset

- Bilingual abilities a plus

Requirements

- CPR Certification

- Coronal Polishing Certification

- Nitrous Oxide (N2O) Certification a plus

- Graduate of an accredited dental assistant program
