Mott MacDonald is seeking a Ports & Coastal market Senior Project Manager to join our team in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In this role, you will lead the delivery of complex marine, waterfront, and resilience infrastructure projects for federal, state, and commercial clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic and across North America.

You will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams, developing trusted client relationships, and delivering projects that enhance coastal resilience, protect critical infrastructure, and improve waterfront communities. This role offers a unique opportunity to help grow Mott MacDonald's coastal practice while delivering high-profile projects for agencies such as USACE, NAVFAC, FEMA, and other public-sector clients.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead project delivery for marine, waterfront, and resilience infrastructure projects from planning through design and construction.

- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk to ensure successful project outcomes.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project partners.

- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, planners, and environmental specialists.

- Support business development efforts, including client relationship management, proposal preparation, interviews, and capture planning.

- Provide technical leadership for coastal resilience, shoreline stabilization, waterfront infrastructure, flood protection, and adaptation projects.

- Support Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build pursuits and project delivery.

- Oversee permitting coordination and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth and development of the coastal engineering team.

- Collaborate with regional and national practice leaders to expand Mott MacDonald's coastal and waterfront presence in the Mid-Atlantic market.

Candidate Specification

- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

- 10+ years of experience leading coastal, waterfront, marine, resilience, or related infrastructure projects.

- Proven success delivering projects for federal, state, local government, and commercial clients.

- Strong understanding of coastal processes, shoreline stabilization, flood risk management, waterfront infrastructure, coastal resilience, and climate adaptation strategies.

- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing complex project delivery.

- Demonstrated client management, account development, and business growth experience.

- Experience working with federal agencies such as USACE, NAVFAC, FEMA, NOAA, National Park Service, or similar organizations.

- Experience supporting or leading Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build pursuits.

- Familiarity with nature-based solutions, flood protection systems, living shorelines, shoreline protection, and coastal resilience planning.

- Experience with coastal modelling and analysis tools is desirable.

- Knowledge of federal contracting processes, including proposal development and SF330 submissions.

- Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills.

Benefits & Rewards

The expected salary for this position is $145,000 - $170,000

Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
