Job Title: Tax Accountant As a Tax Accountant, you will support the organization's tax compliance efforts by researching and applying multi-state tax laws, preparing tax reconciliations, and ensuring accurate sales and use tax reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work with large datasets across multiple ERP systems, and the expertise to interpret tax regulations and contracts to ensure compliance while identifying opportunities for tax savings. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, support tax audits, and contribute to process improvement initiatives across the tax function. Responsibilities:
- Research and apply multi-state sales and use tax laws to ensure compliance with state and local regulations.
- Analyze transactions and prepare use tax accruals using data from multiple ERP and business systems.
- Review contracts, invoices, exemption certificates, and supporting documentation to determine proper tax treatment.
- Interpret construction contracts and apply tax laws to maximize exemptions while maintaining compliance.
- Prepare reconciliations for payroll tax, sales tax, use tax, and related general ledger accounts.
- Support tax audits by responding to tax notices and defending tax positions through research and documentation.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders regarding taxability, compliance requirements, and tax-related questions.
- Compile, analyze, and reconcile large datasets from multiple business systems.
- Assist with the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of tax software solutions.
- Monitor business activities for sales and use tax nexus implications and assist with state registration requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, internal controls, reporting accuracy, and automation initiative
Essential Skills:
- Experience with sales and use tax compliance, reporting, and tax return preparation.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Background in accounting, tax research, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and large transactional datasets.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in sales and use tax, payroll tax, state and local tax compliance, or a related tax function.
- Experience with construction industry taxation and exemption certificate management preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, Power Query, and large-scale data analysis.
- Experience working with multiple ERP systems and high volumes of transactional data.
- Knowledge of tax software platforms and tax automation tools.
- Strong research skills with the ability to interpret and apply tax regulations.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $46.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
