POSITION OVERVIEW
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
Cornerstone seeks a full-time, team-oriented individual to join our Operations team as a Compliance Manager in our Washington, D.C. office. Working closely with the firms Compliance team, the Compliance Manager will help oversee federal and state lobbying and ethics compliance, including LDA, FARA, and state reporting requirements. The role will also support employee compliance and ethics training, monitor and plan for emerging regulatory needs, assist with the review of certain client contracts and related agreements, and serve as a key resource to colleagues on compliance and ethics matters across the firm.
Core responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with, and over time helping to lead, the firms federal Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) compliance and reporting;
- Assisting with the firms Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) reporting and compliance;
- Assisting with, and over time helping to lead, various state ethics compliance and reporting;
- Assessing and planning for emerging state lobbying and ethics compliance needs;
- Assisting with all new employee compliance and ethics trainings;
- Providing support as needed on the firms federal client contracts, subcontracts, and non-disclosure agreements by reviewing and editing documents; and,
- Serving as a key contact and advisor for all compliance and ethics related matters.

The Compliance Manager is a high-visibility position that requires strong organizational skills. They must maintain the highest level of ethical integrity and ensure the company is in compliance with all rules and regulations relative to federal and state lobbying ethics laws. The ideal candidate for this position is highly motivated and has a strong attention to detail. They must be willing to adapt to a fast-paced, established environment. KEY REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate for this position has at least a bachelors degree in legal studies, political science, public policy, government affairs, business administration, or a related field and at least three years of relevant work experience. Preference will be given to candidates with an advanced degree and/or prior experience in legal, regulatory, ethics, or lobbying compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
BENEFITS
Base salary for this position shall be based on experience and level of education and range from $75,000 to $95,000. Employees are eligible for annual performance-based bonuses as well as full coverage of medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance premiums. In addition, employees are eligible to receive a 401(k) employer match and shares in the firms employee stock ownership plan upon entering the plan. Employees are eligible for paid time off and additional fringe benefits to perform their job duties (e.g., parking, cell phone coverage).
