Incoming Ingredient Specialist

Reporting to the Senior Quality Specialist, you will ensure that all incoming ingredients meet specification requirements and support facility food safety, quality, and compliance programs. You will partner with Operations, Logistics, Supplier Quality, and suppliers to verify ingredient compliance, manage ingredient holds, coordinate sample activities, and support continuous improvement of quality systems at our Council Bluffs, Iowa manufacturing facility. This position works 1st shift in a union environment.

A Taste of Your Responsibilities

- Monitor incoming ingredients for compliance with specifications through review of Certificates of Analysis and required sampling and testing.
- Collect and analyze physical attribute data for incoming ingredients and identify trends or shifts in performance.
- Partner with Logistics to review ingredient delivery schedules and review testing requirements based on specification requirements.
- Verify that received materials meet shelf-life requirements based on manufacturing and receipt dates.
- Confirm ingredients are stored at required temperatures according to material specifications.
- Maintain a master list of facility ingredients including storage and shelf-life requirements.
- Coordinate sample collection for microbiological and chemical analysis.
- Document and communicate supplier specification failures through the FoodLogiQ. system.
- Contact suppliers directly to obtain missing or incomplete Certificates of Analysis.
- Partner with Supplier Quality regarding ingredient disposition decisions and supplier follow-up actions.
- Manage and coordinate the raw material hold process for incoming ingredients and ingredients identified during production.
- Communicate ingredient hold dispositions with Logistics.
- Document ingredient noncompliance issues with photographs when needed.
- Verify that supplier Certificates of Analysis correspond to the correct ingredient lots and meet specification requirements.
- Conduct weekly production area audits and provide feedback to area supervisors.
- Support Quality Managers and Supervisors as needed.

Ingredients Required for Your Success

- High school diploma or GED required.
- College degree preferred.
- 2 or more years of quality inspection experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Good Sanitation Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Experience with SAP or FoodLogiQ preferred
- Experience reading and interpreting product specifications and testing procedures.
- Experience reading and interpreting vendor lot code information.

Physical Requirements

- Being on your feet, walking around the facility, climbing stairs/ladders or kneeling for extended periods of time.
- Performing consistent repetitive tasks.
- Frequently lifting, pushing or carrying materials.

Compensation
Pay Range:$44,000-$57,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
