Manufacturing & Government Contracting | High Visibility Role | 9/80 Schedule

We're seeking a Senior Accountant to join a collaborative accounting team supporting a manufacturing organization with government contracting operations. This is a highly visible role that offers broad exposure across general ledger accounting, inventory, fixed assets, cost accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and operational finance. What You'll Do

- Take ownership of key components of the month-end close process within a fast-paced four-day close environment
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and other month-end accounting transactions
- Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations while researching and resolving discrepancies
- Support inventory accounting activities, inventory reconciliations, and month-end inventory reporting
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and reporting
- Perform financial analysis and variance analysis to explain business results and trends
- Assist with financial statement preparation, management reporting, and account analysis
- Support internal and external audit requests and maintain organized supporting documentation
- Assist with sales and use tax reporting and compliance activities
- Partner with Operations, Purchasing, Supply Chain, and Finance teams to support business initiatives
- Utilize ERP systems and advanced Excel tools to improve reporting efficiency and accounting accuracy
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects

What We're Looking For

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- 5-7+ years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong ownership of month-end close responsibilities
- Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and maintaining the general ledger
- Financial reporting and variance analysis experience
- Fixed asset accounting experience
- Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, LOOKUP functions, and data analysis
- ERP system experience
- Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

- FAR and DFARS exposure
- Experience supporting incurred cost submissions

This is a Permanent position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $100000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
