Senior Analyst, Commercial Finance & Strategy - Transportation

The Senior Analyst, Commercial Finance & Strategy - Transportation provides critical financial support and actionable insights for JD Group North America’s Supply Chain and Transportation functions. This role drives operational decision-making, cost efficiency, and sustainable savings through robust financial modeling, KPI development, and variance analysis. Acting as a key partner to cross-functional teams and external vendors, the Analyst will support strategic initiatives and help integrate a shared-service model across all JD Group North America brands (JD, Finish Line, DTLR, Shoe Palace, and Hibbett).

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Partnership & Decision Support

- Leadership Advising: Partner with the VP of Transportation and supply chain leadership to drive financial discipline, cost optimization, and operational efficiency.
- Business Cases: Perform ad-hoc financial modeling and cost-benefit analysis to support strategic investments, process improvements, and contract negotiations.
- Shared Services Integration: Support the ongoing evolution of the shared-service transportation model across all JD Group North America brands.

Analytics & Reporting

- Performance Tracking: Develop, maintain, and distribute KPI dashboards and operational reporting, with a specific focus on parcel transportation performance.
- Deep-Dive Analysis: Conduct detailed transportation analysis—including network optimization, modal composition, shipping revenue modeling, and labor modeling—to identify optimization opportunities.
- Variance & Trend Analysis: Monitor business trends and financial variances to pinpoint root causes and recommend actionable cost-saving levers.

Financial Planning & Data Management

- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the Supply Chain planning cycle, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and ad-hoc financial forecasting.
- Data Integrity: Extract and consolidate data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy while translating complex data into clear, executive-level insights.
- Process & Governance: Establish standard best practices, maintain financial governance, improve data reliability, and document centralized business processes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong collaborative relationships with Accounting, FP&A, Data Analytics, external partners, and the wider Supply Chain team.

Required Education and/or Experience

- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Supply Chain, Transportation, Accounting, Operations Management, Finance, Business Administration or other related field from a four-year college or university. Additional 3 - 5 years’ experience preferably in finance, supply chain, transportation, or related field analytics.
- Required Computer and Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Excel and Access. Knowledge and experience using SQL queries and Microsoft Power BI preferred.
