What you'll be doing

The Talent team delivers innovative talent solutions that help unlock the full potential of our CIBC team. Within Global Employee Relations, Policies and Programs, the Workplace Resolution team provides strategic advice and solutions to address workplace conflict and complaints involving discrimination, harassment, violence, and human rights matters. As a Workplace Conciliator and Investigator, you'll independently assess workplace concerns and determine the most appropriate path to resolution, including early intervention, conciliation, informal resolution, or formal investigation. You'll act as a neutral third party to facilitate fair and respectful resolution processes, helping parties identify root causes, improve communication, and explore practical outcomes. You'll also lead thorough, objective, and defensible investigations into sensitive workplace matters, gather and assess evidence, and develop clear findings and recommendations. Working closely with Human Resources, Employee Relations, Legal, Corporate Security, and business leaders, you'll help manage risk, support compliance obligations, and strengthen confidence in the integrity of our workplace resolution processes.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

- Workplace resolution and conciliation - Assess workplace concerns and determine the most appropriate resolution approach, including early intervention, conciliation, informal resolution, or formal investigation. Facilitate fair and balanced resolution processes that build trust, clarify issues, and support sustainable outcomes.
- Investigation leadership - Conduct timely, thorough, and impartial investigations into concerns involving discrimination, harassment, violence, and other inappropriate workplace conduct. Gather, assess, and synthesize evidence, including interviews, documents, and correspondence, to establish facts and support sound findings.
- Risk assessment and recommendations - Identify legal, regulatory, employee relations, reputational, and operational risks, and provide practical recommendations to support compliance and reduce future risk. Recognize when matters must proceed directly to formal investigation based on severity, policy requirements, or legislative obligations.
- Stakeholder partnership - Provide strategic guidance to Human Resources, Employee Relations, business leaders, and other partners on workplace conduct concerns and appropriate next steps. Partner effectively with Legal, Corporate Security, and other stakeholders to support the coordinated management of sensitive and high-risk matters.
- Documentation and governance - Prepare clear, concise, and defensible case materials, including allegations, interview plans, case summaries, investigation reports, and outcome recommendations. Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and file management to support governance, audit readiness, metrics, and trend analysis.
- Continuous improvement - Identify systemic themes, behavioural patterns, and workplace dynamics that contribute to conflict, and recommend proactive solutions to help prevent recurrence. Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of workplace resolution practices, tools, templates, and processes to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality.

Who you are

- You can demonstrate experience in workplace conflict resolution, conciliation, workplace investigations, discrimination, harassment, violence, human rights matters, attendance and disability management, performance management, discipline, and terminations. It’s an asset if you bring experience managing complex or high-risk workplace matters in a large, regulated organization.
- You know that details matter. You notice issues, patterns, and nuances that others may miss. Your critical thinking skills help you assess risk, establish facts, and support balanced, defensible outcomes.
- You act like an owner. You take initiative, exercise sound judgment, and manage sensitive matters with professionalism and accountability. You build trusted relationships across stakeholder groups and help move complex files forward effectively.
- Your influence makes a difference. You tailor your communication and recommendations to your audience so your advice is clear, balanced, and actionable. You can communicate effectively with employees, leaders, former employees, and legal counsel, including in emotionally charged situations.
- You look beyond the moment. You make decisions that support both immediate resolution and long-term workplace effectiveness. You identify broader themes and recommend practical actions that strengthen the employee experience and help mitigate future risk.
- Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.
- You're fluent in French and English to support business operations outside of Quebec, Canada.
