The FSO (Field Service Organization) is responsible for supporting the implementation and maintenance of highly technical mission critical communications systems at customer locations.
## Job Description

The System Technologist is an onsite, dedicated technical role based in the Orlando, FL area. In this position, you will be responsible for the continuous optimization, maintenance, and high-tier support of complex, mission-critical communications infrastructure and public safety systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- System Engineering & Maintenance: Program, configure, optimize, test, and thoroughly document complex communication systems. Perform routine preventive maintenance and trend analysis to maintain optimal operational efficiency.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide end-to-end technical support for specialized software-driven electronics, system infrastructure, and advanced RF and Broadband architectures (including legacy analog, digital P25, and data infrastructure).
- Network & Infrastructure Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain IP-based wired/wireless networks (LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls, bridges, cabling) and backhaul technologies (Microwave, Fiber, and MPLS routing).
- System Deployment & Optimization: Install and troubleshoot server hardware, operating systems, and application software. Partner with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales teams to successfully design, deploy, and cut over advanced communication solutions that meet customer expectations.
- Problem Solving & Reporting: Resolve complex technical challenges during system implementations and upgrades. Deliver clear weekly reporting on activities, continuous improvements, and operational accomplishments.

Key Qualifications & Skill Sets:

- RF & Wireless Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of RF systems, including transmitters, receivers, antenna networks, and P25 digital architecture.
- Networking & Telecommunications: Expertise in standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, packet switching, and IP network administration.
- Server & Hardware Proficiency: Strong hands-on capabilities with server infrastructure, OS installation, and system-level troubleshooting.
- General Skills: Proficient with productivity software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace). Strong written/verbal communication skills for reporting and documentation.
- Soft Skills: Self-motivated and capable of working independently without direct local supervision. Thrives in high-pressure environments with strong problem-solving capabilities under time-sensitive constraints.

Candidate Requirements:

- The System Technologist MUST reside near the Orlando, FL area to be available for 24/7 rotation of support 365 days of the year.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required. Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by customers. This includes prior felony convictions, felony arrests depending on the disposition. Other criminal history may eliminate the candidate from passing the necessary and required background checks as well.
- Must have a current valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Target Base Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 USD

Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

Basic Requirements

- High School Diploma/GED OR 4+ years experience in one of the following: Backhaul Networks, Fiber, MPLS, Microwave, Engineering, LMR, RF Systems, Radio Frequency, P25, Radio Communications, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Networking Equipment, IT, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Networking equipment or Military experience
- Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by customers.
