The Role:

Entegris is currently seeking a Senior Engineer, Quality Assurance Engineering to join our Advanced Purity Solutions (APS) Division at our San Luis Obispo, CA facility.

This is a full-time, on-site opportunity within the Quality Engineering family and technical career framework at Entegris. In this role, you will serve as a key quality leader supporting manufacturing and operational excellence across APS gas purification products and processes. The work is dynamic and cross-functional, involving regular interaction with and presentations to manufacturing, engineering, operations, supply chain, supplier quality, and leadership teams.

This is a high-impact, highly visible position requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities, influence without direct authority, and drive resolution of complex quality and business challenges. Responsibilities include supporting manufacturing quality, process control, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement initiatives across APS products serving the semiconductor industry. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy.

What You’ll Do:

- Lead cross-functional teams in resolving manufacturing, process, and product quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone Analysis.
- Champion plant quality escalation management efforts, coordinating stakeholders and applying project management principles to drive timely containment, corrective actions, and sustainable improvements.
- Lead CAPA activities, including root cause verification, corrective action implementation, effectiveness reviews, and closure management.
- Own and improve plant quality notification, nonconformance, MRB, and defect tracking processes to ensure timely resolution and visibility of quality risks.
- Develop and maintain quality dashboards, scorecards, and reporting systems to monitor manufacturing performance, yield, scrap, rework, defect trends, and process capability.
- Analyze quality data and manufacturing trends to identify systemic issues, prioritize improvement opportunities, and strengthen risk-based decision making.
- Serve as a quality representative for Material Review Board (MRB) activities, driving effective disposition of nonconforming material and ensuring appropriate risk assessment.
- Lead and support manufacturing process improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction, process capability, operational efficiency, and product quality performance.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) readiness activities, including review of Control Plans, Process FMEAs, process validations, inspection strategies, and production quality requirements.
- Support process change management activities, including quality risk assessments, manufacturing process changes, transfers, and implementation of Process Change Notifications (PCNs) where applicable.
- Support development, implementation, and continuous improvement of process control systems, metrology programs, measurement system analysis (MSA), and statistical process control (SPC) methodologies.
- Partner with manufacturing and engineering teams to improve process robustness, reduce variation, and strengthen quality ownership throughout production operations.
- Support internal audits, external audits, compliance activities, and quality management system requirements.
- Coach and mentor engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams in quality principles, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrate willingness to complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the larger organization and site production goals.
- Act as a champion of the Entegris quality culture by influencing best practices and driving adherence to established quality policies, procedures, and standards without direct authority.
- Demonstrate excellence in planning, execution, discipline, learning, leadership, and teamwork while exemplifying Entegris PACE values.
- Travel occasionally as needed to support training, global operations, benchmarking activities, and business requirements.

What We Seek:

- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 4-6 years of professional experience in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or a related technical discipline, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience leading root cause investigations and driving effective corrective and preventive actions through implementation and effectiveness verification.
- Strong experience with quality tools, methodologies, and standards including FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, CAPA, Lean, Six Sigma, and ISO-based quality systems.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, process controls, product lifecycle management, and quality management systems.
- Experience working with nonconformance management, MRB processes, defect reduction initiatives, and process improvement activities.
- Competent Microsoft Office and ERP system skills (SAP strongly preferred) and familiarity with data visualization and analysis tools such as Power BI.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and influence cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English .

Outstanding Candidates Will Have:

- Master's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- ASQ certifications such as CQE, CQIA, CSSBB, CMQ/OE, or equivalent credentials.
- Semiconductor industry experience in manufacturing, quality, process engineering, equipment engineering, or materials engineering.
- Experience leading plant quality initiatives involving CAPA systems, nonconformance reduction, SPC deployment, process capability improvement, or audit readiness.
- Experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar regulated standards.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional continuous improvement projects that improve manufacturing performance, quality, yield, or operational efficiency.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing organizational quality culture through technical leadership.

- Compensation: $95,000-$110,000 range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role.
