Quality Engineer

Job Title: Quality Engineer Job Description The Quality Engineer leads Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and supporting quality documentation, while driving customer issue resolution, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role serves as the primary quality liaison between customers, suppliers, and manufacturing operations, supporting existing and new products. The Quality Engineer interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to address quality concerns, support product launches, and develop and maintain quality objectives through continuous improvement and direct customer interaction. Responsibilities

- Lead APQP activities for existing and new products, ensuring all requirements are met and documented effectively.
- Manage PPAP activities and part warrants, including preparation, review, and submission of supporting quality documentation.
- Drive customer issue resolution by investigating problems, implementing corrective actions, and following up to verify effectiveness.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing product quality, processes, and systems.
- Serve as the primary quality liaison between customers, suppliers, and manufacturing operations, maintaining clear and professional communication.
- Interface with customers to address quality concerns, respond to inquiries, and support product launches.
- Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality requirements are understood and met, and support supplier quality improvement activities.
- Work closely with internal teams, including production and engineering, to support quality objectives and resolve quality-related issues.
- Lead training and development of plant personnel in quality systems, tools, and disciplines to strengthen overall quality performance.
- Manage Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities, including monitoring, analysis, and reporting of process data.
- Coordinate and support process audits with quality technicians and analysts to verify compliance with quality systems and standards.
- Provide quality coaching and training to staff on quality tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Prepare clear and accurate technical documentation and reports related to quality activities, audits, and improvement projects.
- Support audit activities, including internal system audits and customer or third-party audits.
- Support a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable quality standards.

Essential Skills

- Proven experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience supporting APQP activities and leading APQP processes.
- Direct experience with PPAP activities, including documentation and submission.
- Strong experience in continuous process improvement and quality continuous improvement initiatives, preferably in the automotive sector.
- Solid knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, including SPC and audit processes.
- Experience working in a QS-9000 quality system environment.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to use relevant software tools for data analysis, documentation, and reporting.
- Ability to provide quality coaching and training to plant personnel.
- Technical writing skills for creating clear, accurate, and structured quality documentation and reports.
- Four-year college degree, or a two-year degree combined with 25 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience as a TS16949 systems internal auditor is a significant advantage.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar professional certification is a strong plus.
- Experience supporting audit activities and process audits in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with working as a quality liaison between customers, suppliers, and manufacturing operations.
- experience in automotive sector quality is highly desirable.
- Ability to lead training and development programs focused on quality systems, tools, and disciplines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a structured approach to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Ability to work with advanced equipment and processes in a tier 1 manufacturing environment.
- Motivation to pursue long-term career growth and development within a quality-focused organization.

Work Environment The role operates in both office and manufacturing environments that are climate controlled, providing a comfortable and stable working setting. You will work with advanced equipment and modern processes typical of a tier 1 provider supporting multiple OEMs. The position supports collaboration with cross-functional teams, regular interaction with customers and suppliers, and hands-on involvement on the production floor as needed. Standard business attire is expected in the office, with appropriate safety and protective equipment required in manufacturing areas according to company policies. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $53.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
