Job Description

The Engineer I will support the planning, design, and development of natural gas distribution infrastructure projects. This is a great opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to gain hands-on experience with utility design, pipeline systems, construction, and project management while working alongside experienced engineering professionals. In this role, you will contribute to projects from initial planning and design through construction support. You will help develop solutions for gas distribution systems, evaluate system performance, design mechanical components and equipment, and coordinate with internal teams and project stakeholders. Responsibilities

- Support gas storage, gas distribution, and fueling station projects involving the design and functionality of pipeline systems and components.
- Assist with the planning and design of mechanical equipment, components, and related infrastructure.
- Perform system balances and engineering analysis to identify system constraints, low points, and potential solutions.
- Develop and review engineering designs, drawings, plans, and project documentation.
- Utilize AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and other engineering design tools to support project development.
- Provide engineering oversight and technical support during construction activities.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, operations, project management, and other internal stakeholders.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, design coordination, and project controls.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and communicate project updates to team members and leadership.
- Ensure designs and projects align with applicable engineering standards, DOT regulations, and safety requirements.

Essential Skills

- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 1+ year of professional experience working in an engineering capacity.
- Experience or exposure to engineering design, project management, construction, or project controls.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS.
- Experience with or knowledge of pipeline design, utility design, mechanical design, civil engineering, or other linear infrastructure projects.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, construction, and project stakeholders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with MicroStation is a plus.
- Previous experience within the utility, natural gas, pipeline, or infrastructure industries is preferred.
- EIT certification is a plus.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations is beneficial.
- Ability to confidently participate in and eventually lead stakeholder meetings with engineering teams and leadership.
- Interest in developing both technical engineering and project management skills.

- Hybrid Schedule: Four days per week in the office with Fridays remote.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
