Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Planning and Inventory Management, the Sr Manager of Planning and Pricing is responsible for leading the sales and inventory budget and pricing strategy across Vail Resorts Retail. The Sr. Manager will partner with our senior product leaders and finance team to drive planning, forecasting and financial management of sales planning and pricing strategies to drive strong forecast accuracy and improve margin optimization. This leader will build critical relationships with the broader retail organization and will also require strong horizontal leadership skills across multiple functions to drive and execute on forecast accuracy. This position requires strong analytical skills, workload prioritization and organizational skills, excellent communication and strong collaboration skills. This role will lead a team and be responsible for their leadership, development and succession planning.

- Starting Wage: $93,409.00 - $99,000.00 + annual bonus

Job Responsibilities:

- Own and lead sales, margin, inventory, and pricing plans through budget and forecasts to drive accountability and achieve financial and business objectives.

- Drive inventory productivity through disciplined open-to-buy management, inventory turn optimization, lifecycle planning, and proactive management of excess and aged inventory in partnership with the Inventory Exit team.

- Develop and execute pricing, promotional, and markdown strategies in partnership with the retail product team to optimize sales, margin, and inventory productivity.

- Ensures effective communication, coordination and cooperation between multiple cross functional partners including Finance, Buying, Replenishment, Operations and IT.

- Responsible for the day to day analytical and planning tasks required to manage and report key retail KPIs.

- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning, pricing, and forecasting processes, systems, and tools.

- Translate business needs into scalable solutions through strong partnership with IT.

- Champion change management initiatives and support organizational transformation efforts that improve planning effectiveness, pricing strategic initiatives, and overall retail performance.

- Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team through coaching, talent development, succession planning, and organizational leadership.

Job Requirement:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 7+ years of relevant retail experience.

- Experience in merchandise planning, replenishment, buying, pricing, or inventory management.

- Strong analytical, financial, and business acumen with a track record of driving growth and profitability.

- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders at all levels.

- Strong learning agility, problem-solving skills, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

- Experience developing and leading high-performing teams.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Power Query, VBA, Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP), PowerPoint, Access and Word.

- Experience with retail planning and inventory management systems – JDA MMS preferred.

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $93,409.00 - $99,000.00 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.

Vail Resorts offers a ‘Hybrid’ work environment for Broomfield-based roles where employees must live within 50 miles of the Broomfield office and work on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and have flexibility to work off-site on Mondays and Fridays.
