Project Controls Specialist

As a Project Controls Specialist, you will support the successful delivery of capital projects and annual Turnarounds at our Saint John Refinery by developing project baselines, monitoring performance, managing cost controls, and delivering accurate, timely reporting. Your goal will be to ensure procedures, reporting, and data are streamlined where possible while supporting safe, on-time, and on-budget project execution. Your success will come from partnering closely with cross-functional teams, maintaining reliable project data and controls, and providing clear insights that support effective decision-making across the project portfolio.

Your Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain project baselines, forecasts, and cost control tools throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure project controls are aligned with approved cost estimates and Primavera P6 schedules
- Monitor project costs, commitments, and forecast performance against approved budgets
- Analyze project performance trends and identify risks, opportunities, and variances
- Manage change control processes and contingency tracking throughout project execution
- Prepare and deliver accurate, timely project cost and performance reports to stakeholders
- Partner with project teams, contractors, and suppliers to validate scope and monitor project commitments
- Support annual Turnarounds and capital project planning, execution, and reporting activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project controls, reporting, and data management practices.

Your Skills:

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret project performance data and identify trends
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and database tools
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across engineering, procurement, construction, operations, finance, safety, quality, and contractor teams

Your Experience:

- Post-secondary education in Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three years of relevant experience in project controls, project management, engineering, construction, or a related business environment
- Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, SAP, Oracle, Power BI, or Power Apps, as well as AACE or PMP certification, would be considered assets

The expected salary range for this position is $80,836.00 - $107,108 .  Placement within range will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, and skills
